**Senior Plumbing & Fire Protection Designer****General:**Plans and conducts work requiring judgment regarding the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Successfully completes the design of large complex plumbing and/or fire protection systems and/or components of systems. Works closely with a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer for technical review and guidance.**Responsibilities:*** Review and understand the project objectives and requirements as communicated by the PM or Project Engineer and by reviewing the project proposal and plans.* Review and understand the project plan and budget as developed by the PM; responsible for monitoring ones own scope, schedule and project plan; notify PM or Project Engineer of scope creep and additional services.* Develop design drawings and specifications plumbing and fire protection systems including calculations of preliminary water, gas, sanitary/sewer and storm loads while adhering to the firms QA/QC process* Supervise engineers-in-training (EITs) and designers that are assisting on specific tasks.* Prepare the design of systems or components of systems for various types of commercial and institutional buildings, including calculations, code analyses and inter- trade coordination; works closely with a Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer for technical review and guidance.* Examines field conditions as required to support development and completion of projects.* Assist in the firms human resource efforts through training and mentoring junior firm members; communicating project task expectations, monitoring and review of project contributions and communicating with the PM.* Demonstrates AKFs core values and serves as a role model to all firm members. Enhances the firms reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing internal and external client requests.* Updates job knowledge and technical expertise by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in technical organizations and obtaining certifications in area of expertise.Job Requirements

**Skills/Qualifications:*** Ability to design large complex plumbing and/or fire protection systems and/or components of systems., meet deadlines and/or work under the supervision of a Senior Project Engineer.* 10-15+ years of experience with a consulting engineering firm, with at least 10 years of Plumbing & Fire Protection Design experience.* Understanding of the architectural, engineering and construction industry and knowledge of code-compliance requirements and industry standards.* Clear and concise written and oral communication skills.* Understanding of AKFs Engineering Standards, including design guides, specifications and software programs.* Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)* Working knowledge of BIM/Revit and AutoCAD and ability to utilize on projects to accomplish work.**Required/Preferred Credentials:*** LEED Certification.* Certifications in areas of expertise**Job Classification and Scheduled work hours:*** Full Time Salaried Exempt Employee. Exempt employees are ineligible for Overtime Pay.* Standard workweek is Monday-Friday* Minimum 8 working hours/day (40 hours/week Monday-Friday) within the firms hours of operation of 7:00a.m.-6:00p.m.* You may be required to work extra hours in order to meet clients demands and project delivery target dates.* Travel to client meetings and worksites may be required on occasion.
