Overview:
The Music Therapist will utilize the power of music to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals in our Skilled Nursing and Memory Care areas.
What you'll do:
* Collaborate with the interdisciplinary teams to conduct assessments of residents.* Determine and implement appropriate interventions to alleviate symptoms of anxiety, depression, isolation, agitation, restlessness, sleeplessness, pain, tension, relaxation, and comfort.* Provide ongoing education and updates to the interdisciplinary team of appropriateness and/or contraindications for treatment.* Coordinate ongoing group music therapy programs as well as one-to-one sessions with residents.* Maintains accurate, timely and thorough documentation of sessions and progress.* Assists in recruiting, organizing and implementing programs utilizing students, interns and volunteers.* Stay abreast in the music therapy field by participation in ongoing musical development activities.* Communicate with residents, families, and caregivers to empower them in the therapeutic process.
What it takes:
* Bachelor's degree in music therapy from an accredited music therapy program.* 1-2 years of clinical music therapy experience across the lifespan, preferably in senior living.* Musical proficiency in voice, piano, guitar and/or other musical modalities.* Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) preferred.
