Collaborates with law library faculty and staff on reference and circulation policies and services including student worker schedules, guidance, supervision, and hiring. Covers routine shifts at the Reference Desk; coordinates with law library faculty to ensure evening and weekend backup coverage is available when needed.**Instructional services and teaching (20%)**The Research and Reference Librarian serves as a library liaison to small sections, and collaborates in developing the research portion, for the Lawyering Skills program. Teaches or co-teaches Advanced Legal Research and the Kansas Supreme Court Research Practicum; provides guest research lectures for other law school courses as needed. Provides legal research instruction at the Reference Desk and is available for ad hoc student research consultations. Promotes current awareness of legal research databases including Artificial Intelligence resources. Creates, updates, and promotes numerous law library Research and Study Guides.**Library liaison and faculty services (15%)**The Research and Reference Librarian serves as a liaison to law faculty for library services and is an active member of the faculty services research team. Provides in-depth research support for law faculty; provides guidance for law faculty and law library Research Assistants. Actively promotes law faculty scholarly output via SSRN, KU ScholarWorks, and related services.**Interlibrary loan and document delivery (15%)**The Research and Reference Librarian oversees the timely provision of document delivery and interlibrary loan services within the law library. Interlibrary loan services include requesting and borrowing materials as needed along with supervising law library staff and collaborating with KU Libraries as needed. Document delivery service is provided for law school students, faculty, and staff. Electronic document delivery services are provided in conjunction with other KU libraries and libraries throughout the country. Document delivery services are available in part to KU Law alums, law firms, and correctional facilities. This position oversees these outreach services; orientation and continuing education opportunities available for qualified candidates without significant ILL/DD experience.**Scholarship and service (10%)**Define and establish an area of particular professional interests and engage in research, publishing, and presenting at conferences and in other academic/peer settings. The Research and Reference Librarian actively participates in regional, state, and national professional library organizations. Serves on law library, law school, and university committees as appropriate. Contributes to law library strategic planning efforts.**Library website (5%)**The Research and Reference Librarian collaborates with law library faculty and staff, along with law school administration, to maintain and implement the overall goals of the law library website. Coordinates the maintenance of law library website content and updates webpages as needed; ensures compliance with KU templates and applicable accessibility standards. Navigates the proper channels to secure copyright and/or link permissions for use of materials on law library website.**Other duties as assigned (5%)**The Research and Reference Librarian performs other duties as assigned by the Director and/or (Assistant/Associate) Director as needed to support the law library, law school, and university.
