Overview:

Manage and implement marketing efforts, campaigns and initiatives to help reach organizational goals. Work with the Marketing Director to establish Columbus as a top sports destination. Serve as the primary resource for the development of marketing content delivered through multi-channel campaigns. Supports the Sports Commission's brand marketing strategies and execution of integrated marketing communication plans for hosted events.

We bring sports events, fans and participants to Columbus and we've been doing it since 2002. We do it to improve the quality of life of people that call Columbus home. We do it raise the profile of Columbus as a sports city. We do it to impact the people and economy in Central Ohio. Most of all we do it for the love of the game.

The Greater Columbus Sports Commission is an LLC of Experience Columbus, a 501(c)(6), and oversees the Greater Columbus Sports Foundation, a 501(c)(3), and operates with its own board of commissioners, budget, brand, office, web and media presence, fundraising and other elements.

The work you will do :Campaign Strategy:

Create and execute integrated marketing campaigns to support Sports Commission owned events like Community Cup and Community Youth Camp and Clinics.Serve as marketing lead for various hosted sporting events, supporting the events goals such as athlete participation or ticket sales.Support the Marketing Director on ideation and execution of marketing campaign for large scale hosted events.

Digital Content Strategy:

Lead and execute email marketing strategy, focused on delivering engaging content on a regular basis.Write, build, review and schedule emails and map user journeys.Grow and manage the email marketing database.Write content for newsletters and emails, Sports Commission website(s), blogs and microsites.

Corporate Partnership Marketing:

Serve as primary marketing representative to the Corporate Partnership department.Develop sales materials including PowerPoint presentations, print collateral, emails and digital content.Help to achieve the goals outlined by the Director of Corporate Partnerships.Ensure fulfilment of partner benefits which the marketing department is responsible for (i.e. inclusion in newsletters).

Other Responsibilities:

Monitor, review and report on marketing activity and results.Participate in professional development activitiesParticipate in/lead GCSC staff activitiesManage relationships with external partners including marketing representatives at local sports organizations and venues, partners, downtown districts, event organizers and moreRepresent the Sports Commission at community events or speaking engagements as well as in media interviews.

Qualifications and Background we are looking for:

Four-year degree from an accredited program or equivalent (either through education, work experience or a combination of both)3 + years of experience in marketing or communications management, leading tasks, teams or projects; sports administration and/or hospitality industry marketing experience a plusCreative thinker who can come up with new and innovative ways to reach marketing goalsStrong organizational skills with the ability to lead multiple campaigns and/or handle multiple projects at the same time.Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; proficient in AP Style.Approachable, open, team-oriented, and collaborative.Experienced with digital mediaGraphic design skills are desirable but not required; knowledge of Adobe Suite is a plus.Working on a small team, office setting or environment.Team player, focused on strong relationships built on respect, trust and sharing of knowledge.Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint, Internet, and comfortable using social media in a professional or academic setting.Well-developed time management skills with an ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.Demonstrate flexible thinking, a growth mindset and resilience.Passionate about the product (Columbus and Sports) and motivated to exceed expectations.Committed to learning and applying Diversity Equity Inclusion and Accessibility principles throughout the roleThe organization requires all employees to obtain and maintain the Experience Columbus Insider (ECI) accreditationPhysical Demands :The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
