Overall Objectives of PositionThe Grant Writer researches grant opportunities, writes grant proposals, and submits grant applications for Tribal Government and entities. This position will assist the Tribe in writing and submitting grant and contract applications. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. The Grant Writer is expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objective of applicable programs.The Grant Writer is expected to live the Purpose and Values of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and will go beyond the call of duty.

Primary Responsibilities of the Grant WriterProvides managerial assistance to the Division Director and all other levels of management in the area of program development, identification of grant opportunities, preparation and review of grants, and the facilitation and collection of data for grant writing.Keeps the Division Directors informed of available funding and the status on all grant applications.Works closely with all government agencies, including appropriate staff, to navigate and submit grant applications.Interfaces with applicable Tribal Government and Entity management staff for the purpose of establishing an annual unmet needs list for program and project development.Acts as the lead in the review, preparation, and centralized collection of all grant and program applications for appropriate funding that will increase the overall effectiveness of all Tribal service programs.Responsible for the daily review of the federal register, researching any information viable to Tribal service programs.Maintains a centralized database for the Tribe, which includes, but is not limited to, demographic data of the Tribe, health statistics, enrollment information, etc. that will assist in the drafting of applicable grant narratives.Provides cross-functional expertise in grant execution, implementation, and administration.Conducts grant program orientation, provides assistance in work plan coordination, including program evaluation training as needed, and provides ongoing technical assistance.Monitors policies, regulations, and legislation as it pertains to all aspects of program services for the Tribe.Assists with the preparation of operational departmental budgets related to grant applications.Maintains grant, special projects, and statistical data records/database and reporting tracking tools.Leads and manages grant and special project updates by collaborating and coordinating with applicable program and management staff for accurate, on-time submissions of grants, budgets, reapplications, resolutions, grant summary, etc.Participates in writing, preparation, and submission of Letters of Intent and proposals, as needed.Organizes and facilitates grant meetings, as needed, with cross-functional organization representation.Maintains accurate and complete grant records and adheres to the established record retention plan.Prepares and submits monthly and cumulative management reports regarding the status of grant applications to show updates on all activities.Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate person.Day-to-day Responsibilities

Steadfast attentiveness in upholding Confidentiality and adherence to Confidentiality standards.Coordinates and provides effective and responsive communication of grant and special project activities between Tribal Government grantors, related Departments/Divisions, individual or business contractors, and the Division Director.Education/License/Certification and Experience Requirements

Must have one of the following required:

a. Bachelor's Degree in Professional Writing, Business Administration or related field with two (2) years of grant writing/grant program administration experienceb. Six (6) years of grant writing/grant program administration experience.

Five (5) years of progressively responsible, full-time employment experience directly related to grants writing and development of program proposals preferred.Skills Required

Proven track record in grant writing including, but not limited to, local, state, and Tribal grants, federal funding requests, capacity building proposals, and funding requests to private and public foundations.Ability to analyze and systematically compile technical and statistical information and to prepare grant narratives, reports, and correspondence.Comprehend and make inferences from written material.Exceptional organizational, analytical, critical-thinking, and prioritization skills.Familiar with reading grant awards/guidelines and interpreting policies, regulations, and standards.Maintain a professional attitude in dealing with the public.Ability to follow written and oral directions.Adept at multi-tasking, have unquestionable integrity, with an uncompromising commitment to quality.Exceptional interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.Ability to demonstrate leadership ability.Must demonstrate effective public relations skills, and ability to present a professional image for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.Strong presentation skills required.Must have ability to navigate Internet and download and upload knowledge.Must have a working knowledge of computers. Experience with Microsoft XP Operating System and Office Professional Applications, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.Demonstrated proficiency in English, spelling, punctuation, and basic writing skills.Ability to work independently and under pressure. This includes having the ability to analyze and remedy problems in a logical manner or have knowledge to refer individuals to outside sources for resolve.Skilled in the operation of standard office machinery including a calculator, copier, facsimile, and other similar equipment.Strong organizational skills required with demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities, handles multi-tasks, and balance diverse projects.Must possess a high level of maturity and the ability to maintain confidentiality.Additional Requirements

Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.Must possess a valid state driver's license and an insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development and other events.Ability to adequately and successfully perform all duties and responsibilities of this position.
