Summary:

Island Creek is seeking a Journeyman Cartographer to provide on-site Geographic Information System (GIS) Support for the United States Air Force (USAF) 787th Construction Engineering Squadron at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in Lakehurst, New Jersey.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assist the Installation Management staff in the development, administration, maintenance, security, and adaptation of database technologies for the installation's GIS as it relates to military common installation picture (CIP), mission data sets (MDS) and facility management data.Apply principles of Installation Geographic Information & Services (IGI&S) and Uniform Facilities Criteria (UFC) that adhere to installation management criteria as described in Air Force publications as well as the UFC.Utilize the Engineering Request System (ERS) and shared Project Folders to track and execute requests for GIS Support.Establish and maintain ERS logs and project folders as work comes in & during execution to document project correspondence, data, tools and output.Support in developing a comprehensive approach to delineating the Joint Base physical and built infrastructure, and creating or expanding ArcGIS databases. This shall include determining the data types and sources necessary, including themes and scales, identification/verification of buildings and infrastructure for data improvement, acquiring original data from GPS/other fieldwork and sources such as field-verified maps or site survey notes, and confirming spatial data accuracy at areas & scales of interest.Support data collection of all known or proposed changes to the installation-built infrastructure that may impact operability, working in conjunction with CADD drafters and technicians to ensure GIS and CADD data are consistent.Establish effective working relationships with other agencies and customers for exchange of information and problem resolution; and provide assistance, training, and advice on techniques and tools available for data development and analysis. Customer feedback will be solicited or assessed when draft/final products & recommendations are provided, attempting to resolve or explain any expectation/satisfaction issues.Required Skills/Abilities:

Expertise in in the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and the Environment (SDSFIE), Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata, and the FGDC Geospatial Positioning Accuracy Standards.Experience utilizing AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Travel:

Local travel is required for this position. A valid state issued driver's license is required.

Required Education:

BA/BS in Cartography, Geography, Geomatics, Surveying or other technical degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. ALLOWABLE SUBSTITUTION: AA/AS in Cartography, Geography, Geomatics, Surveying or other technical discipline from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with an additional two (2) years of experience in the functional duties; OR High School Diploma/GED with an additional four (4) years of experience in the functional duties.

Required Experience:

Four (4) years of experience as an GIS Analyst

Work Authorization/Security Clearance:

This position is subject to a criminal history background check and Wants/Warrants check. Ideal candidates will currently have installation access to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JB MDL), however, candidates with US Citizenship or non-U.S. citizens with a Work Permit Visa, Passport, or Alien Registration Card with immigration number will be considered. Must be able to receive a Government Common Access Card (CAC), access Government systems, and pass a criminal history background check and Wants/Warrants check.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position working 8 hours daily Monday through Friday.
