HDAE is an auxiliary services operation that houses 10,000 students, faculty, staff and family residents on campus, provides support services for 9,300 students residing in the communities adjacent to the campus, serves 21,000 customers daily in its retail and board dining programs, manages the UCSB Campus Store and University Center, hosts 150,000 guests annually for conferences and meetings, manages a major events center (Events Center), and oversees the administration of transportation, parking and fleet services. Additional responsibilities in the HDAE portfolio include Administrative & Residential Information Technology (ARIT) and The Club & Guest House. HDAE maintains a physical plant of more than 3 million square feet of buildings and 250 acres of grounds and landscaping.This position plays a key role in the Marketing & Communications Team (MarCom) that is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating and overseeing the division's communications and marketing strategies and initiatives that may have an impact on the organization and its ability to generate revenue. This includes all major communications for the diverse clientele of Housing, Dining & Auxiliary Enterprises including web, print media, digital signage, video, social media, and marketing initiatives. This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the capacity to organize, prioritize, and handle a wide variety of responsibilities and projects accurately and consistently. Acts as a project manager and technical leader for new marketing and communication initiatives often without precedent and/or structure. Coordinates with the MarCom Team and HDAE departments on campaigns to promote awareness to students, potential students, and other clients such as marketing housing contracts and playing a key role on the Housing Fair committee for UCSB's Open House. With supervisor, reviews and assumes responsibility for requests submitted to the Marketing & Communication Work Request system related primarily to social media and digital signage, which allows departments in HDAE to request various marketing and communication services. Designs and produces both print and digital publications and other promotional materials that are distributed to HDAE staff, students, potential students, as well as customers of The Club & Guest House and Conference & Hospitality Services, etc. Ensures that branding is consistent with the look and feel of divisional communications, logos and signage, and ensures alignment with the UCSB visual identity. Establishes and maintains contact with vendors such as printers and photographers. Responsible for HDAE's social media strategy, which includes dynamic story-focused content in a variety of formats (graphic design art, short-form video, etc.). Acts as a project manager and technical leader for existing and new social media marketing initiatives. Has a high degree of expertise in understanding a broad range of social media platforms and required knowledge of Facebook, YouTube, Pinterest, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Tumblr. Maintains master calendar for all social media marketing initiatives. Reviews social media analytics to better determine message strategy and how to increase target audience engagement and gain more followers. Follows and researches social media trends to stay up-to-date with various algorithm changes to platforms. Researches, oversees and coordinates advertising placements and schedules on social media platforms as well as other advertising channels. Designs and produces content including video, virtual tours, Graphics Interchange Format (GIFs), photography (360 degree, panorama, digital), animation, interactive web content, 3D images and vector images. Designs dynamic visual content for DigiKnow, HDAE's digital signage network, to convey messages, themes, culinary offerings, special events and emergencies. Required knowledge of crafting copy and design principles regarding contrast, fonts, images, and use of animation. Supports the webmaster in making front end changes to HDAE's websites, including adding/updating images and graphics to web pages, fixing formatting issues, updating text to reflect accurate information and deadlines, and reviewing analytics for SEO purposesCoordinate Digital Signage System -40%Markets DigiKnow as a resource to student groups and campus departments. Responsible for programming DigiKnow, the digital signage network comprising 34 screens throughout the residential communities, dining commons, two screens in the University Center, and one screen at the Club and Guest House. Coordinates advertising placement and schedules, communicates with departments and student groups about advertising fees and artwork, and ensures dynamic content throughout the academic year. Monitors content broadcasted to ensure it meets the expected function. Trains DigiKnow customers and student workers to create effective ads. Stays abreast of current digital marketing trends and best practices. Responsible for depositing checks for DigiKnow ads, preparing quarterly department recharge forms, and keeping accurate records of all payments. Addresses payment inquiries/issues. Researches and analyzes new and innovative methods for generating revenue through the digital signage system and develops implementation proposals. -Develops dynamic visual content for digital signage to convey messages, themes, culinary offerings, special events and emergencies. Has a high degree of knowledge of creating templates, integrating external media sources, image resolution, screen segmentation and developing playlists that include a variety of image and video file formats. Works in partnership with the Director of Marketing & Communications, ARIT, outside vendors, and internal and external content providers to create a "Times Square" atmosphere.Special Projects -10%Leads special projects as needed. Performs special duties as designated by Supervisor. Participates in various department and University committees.
