Job SummaryUnder general supervision of Jennifer Smilowitz, the appointee will work independently to develop marketing strategies and utilize digital and print communications using multi-media channels (social media, newsletters, blogs, email, websites) to promote educational platforms designed to educate consumers and health care providers, educators and advocates on nutrition and health equity with the goal of improving health and well-being. The appointee will co-create, edit and manage the production of educational materials including webinars, videos, podcasts on health and nutrition topics that target consumers and health care providers, educators and advocates. The appointee will track, analyze and report the effectiveness of their marketing strategies, programming, and performance of digital and print communications using analytic tools. In alignment with UC Davis Brand Guidelines, the appointee will create digital and print marketing materials, including graphic elements, banners, and websites as well as be an expert in the creation of content with high level creative skills. The appointee will possess significant expertise in the full content strategy lifecycle and possess expert level skills in copywriting and design management.

The appointee will be responsible for facilitating local and regional outreach (such as conferences, webinars, meetings, and events), identifying appropriate outlets for dissemination of educational content. This position will execute communication strategies related to promoting the high-level expertise and guidance from CE Specialist, Jennifer Smilowitz to grow the public's knowledge about the UC Davis Nutrition Department as a valuable and trust-worthy resource for health and nutrition information. The appointee will serve as a liaison between the ORIANE Lab-UC Davis Nutrition Department and physicians, nurses, office and hospital staff (health care professionals); health education specialists, educators, stakeholders, staff from government assistance programs and consumers. The appointee must be a capable speaker and presenter to liaise with professional audiences and represent the UC Davis Nutrition 'brand' when needed.Apply By DateJuly 25th 2024QualificationsMinimum QualificationsFor full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license, certification and/or educational degree if required of the position.Bachelor's degree in social sciences.Five years' experience developing digital and traditional content strategy and marketing strategy incorporating multi-channel programming with knowledge of consumer engagement strategies and marketing psychology best practices (branding, positioning, cognitive biases, information gap theory, how to build an effective content ecosystem).Five years' experience creating content in varied formats and a portfolio of work to show familiarity with different formats (long form, short-form, educational, public relations, presentation, infographics, slide decks and scripts for audio podcasts and video) and using email outreach software (Constant Contact, Mailchimp).Two years' experience tracking user analytics and familiarity with user experience software for reporting (Google Analytics, Google Console, GA4 Analytics) and interpreting key metrics (page views, time on site, conversions, demographics, traffic sources, bounce rates, dwell times) to optimize website performance.Five years' experience leading and supervising creative teams (writers, designers, web development, broadcast/production specialists) managing activity and outputs with use of creative briefs, agile work method, mentoring, management through feedback, deadline and budget management spreadsheets.Strong and adaptable spoken and written communicator with at least 10 consumer publications on health, food or nutrition who is skilled at interacting with consumers and health care industry providers of diverse ethnic, economic, and social backgrounds as evidenced by a track record of being the public face of an organization at events and conferences.Meticulous attention to detail, and strong organizational skills using workplace productivity tools (Slack) with experience operating independently to solve problems, effectively manage work, teams, and make decisions with use of the following project management approaches: Control Map and Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, and Informed (RACI).Preferred QualificationsExperience with Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Publisher, and web-based applications.Experience working with low-income communities.Experience working with or training in nutrition or health fields.Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision, following study protocol.Published journalist or author with proven editing and proofreading skills.Key Responsibilities30% - Content Development60% - Extension and Outreach10% - AdministrativePosition InformationSalary or Pay Range: $92,000/annually - $172,000/annuallySalary Frequency: MonthlySalary Grade: 24UC Job Title: COMM SPEC 4Number of Positions: 1Appointment Type: ContractPercentage of Time: 45%Shift Hours: Manager will adviseLocation: Davis, CA.Union Representation: NoBenefits Eligible:
