Our team designs, develops and maintains massively scaling technology solutions brought to life with innovative architectures, data analytics, and digital solutions.Key Responsibilities:The Principal Designer – UX will help lead efforts to design and define interactions which will engage our customers. Additionally, this position is responsible for contributing to the definition, communication and application of design standards for our desktop and mobile applications and for working with team members and solution partners to ensure consistency with these standards throughout the Operations portfolio.Conduct UX research for systematic study of United Pilots and Flight Attendants and their requirements, to add realistic contexts and insights to design processesCreate sketches, prototypes, wireframes, screen-flow diagrams & UI specs for testing and developmentRapidly iterate on design prototypes and working applications Design high-fidelity mockups and interactive prototypes for new and existing concepts, applying Figma and Sketch for responsive web and mobile applications serving Flight Attendants and PilotsThoughtfully articulate design decisions and rationaleDesign direction should be based on the overall product roadmap as well as your own design thinking and fundamental principlesProvide design support during development and execution; assist with QA to ensure designs are implemented accurately and with the highest standardCollect and apply qualitative and quantitative data from usability tests and business analytics to make value-driven design decisionsCollaborate closely with business stakeholders, lead developers, and UX team to gather project requirements, align with the company vision, and achieve project goalsAssist with validating and measuring user experience success via usability testing and post deployment evaluations. Established and manage an on-brand pattern library and style guide, streamlining design consistency and reducing development timeLead the UX delivery for Crew Facing SystemsManage the work of UX and UI developer supplier resourcesCreate standards and best practices for UX design and UI development of Crew Facing SystemsProvide guidance and mentor junior designers and developersUnited values diverse experiences, perspectives, and we encourage everyone who meets the minimum qualifications to apply. We are always looking for individuals who will bring something new to the table!QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):5+ years of experience in UI/UX designProficiency using UX and protyping tools (Axure, Sketch, Adobe Creative Cloud, InVision, etc.)Experience with WCAG accessibility standardsProven effectiveness in working as a member in cross-functional teams which include business analysts, designers, researchers, developers, and product ownersExperience with Agile and/or lean philosophy and methodsDesign experience for both web and mobileAbility to create wireframes as well as visual design compsPortfolio examples of sketches, workflows, interactions, and end state workUp-to-date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsPositive attitude and be able to work effectively in a teamStrong sense of accountability and drive to get resultsHigh attention to detail but able to work quickly to meet deadlinesAbility to solve problems creatively and effectivelyMaintain a user-centered approach in design perspective and practiceMust be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorshipSuccessful completion of interview required to meet job qualificationReliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the positionWhat will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):Airline ExperienceCISSP, CISA, or CISMUnited Airlines is an equal opportunity employer.
