Description

Purpose

The CAD Designer completes design assignments of moderate scope in designing industrial process fluid cooling and temperature control systems. This position receives general supervision and direction from a manager, senior designer, or Engineer and exercises discretion in personal work details. This position is located in Niles, Illinois.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform new and revised product designs using 2D and 3D design softwarePrepare drawings and models and provides drafting support on engineered orders, product updates, and new product development and documents revisions using a document management systemPrepare complete models and layouts of industrial process fluid cooling equipment and systemsMake decisions regarding design suitability using knowledge of specified materials and production methodsIdentify bill of material structures to detail design assembly drawingsPrepare complete detailed drawings for production releaseProvide design and drafting support to the Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, and Service departmentsProvide drafting support for custom design features to assist Sales in quotation processProvide production support in development projects, customer orders, and product maintenanceInterface directly with internal and external customers to ensure products meet performance, quality, and functional expectationsActively participate in and implement continuous cost reduction and product improvement plansPartner with teammates, customers, and suppliers as required to accomplish objectivesIdentify alternative design solutions and evaluate the relative strengths and weakness of eachProvide timing and resource estimates to complete a job or projectRequirements

Associate's degree in CAD or an engineering discipline from a technical college or a bachelor's degree in a related fieldMinimum of 2 years related work experience using SolidWorks and Draftsight or other 2D design software, preferably in the design of process fluid cooling and temperature control, industrial refrigeration, process fluid pumping, HVAC systemsExperience with component layout, structural and sheet metal design, welding, and piping system designProficiency with windows-based computers and basic office, business, and engineering softwareExcellent written and oral communication skills using the English languageExceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
