OVERVIEW : The Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center at Gallaudet University is a federally funded center with exemplary elementary and secondary education programs for deaf and hard of hearing students and is tasked with developing and disseminating innovative curricula, instructional techniques, and products nationwide while providing information, training, and technical assistance for parents and professionals to meet the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students from birth to age 21.

Summary:
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
Lighting Designer provides lighting support for the Performing Arts Program, collaborating with the technical crew (lighting, set, and costume) and the School Play Director on designing the lights for the performances.
Qualification:
• Experience in working for the school play(s)/theatre field
• Experience in working with various lighting equipment
• Provide feedback and support the Performing Arts Program, the cast and crew.
• Demonstrate strong management skills
• Knowledge and understanding of high school students (9th grade to 12th grade)
• Commitment to the program
• Fluency in ASL

• All employees hired must undergo and pay for a background investigation if selected for the job and must be cleared before starting the first day on the job. Current fee for the investigation can range $35.50 to $135, depending on location.

• Compensation: $17.50 per hour
