Summary:Reporting to the Creative Services Director, the Multimedia Designer supports the production of visual and video content output by Gallaudet University.

Job Description:Creates innovative, progressive, visually compelling visual (graphic and web) and digital video productions that will promote our internal and external clients' brand, products and services.

Executes and supports all aspects of design and digital video production including conceptualization of design/layout, mockups/wireframes, stories, field production, and video shooting and editing, utilizing both in-house production capabilities and/or working with outside contractors.

Supports the coordination of marketing materials and creative media for internal and external client campaigns.

Exchanges and cultivates ideas, mockups/wireframes, and storyboards/scripts with coworkers, internal and external clients, and regularly meets production deadlines.

Designs and develops web applications including user interface and interactive features.

Ensures that the layout of content is accessible and logical and recommends improvements as necessary to ensure clean, crisp and engaging interfaces.

Works in collaboration with internal and external clients to produce a variety of visual, web, and video products for broadcasting and video streaming on web-based and/or social media channels.

Plans and supports assigned studio productions and oversees operation of small multi-camera studios.

Operates video switching, character generation and digital video effects equipment, edit controllers, cameras, hard disk video recorders, video distribution switchers, and audio mixers

Edits and creates soundtracks, voiceovers, captions, video titling and effects.

Supports pre-production and production planning projects in cooperation with other staff and contractors.

Conducts field-based video production, including interacting with internal and external clients and operating all portable video and audio equipment.

Plans and performs video post-production tasks which includes reviewing footage, making editorial decisions, tape logging, rough cuts, audio adjustment, color correction, and final editing using Adobe Premiere and After Effects software.

Utilizes computer graphics and special effects for video post-production in accordance with the overall production concepts.

Compresses video and audio projects for output; makes video products available in a variety of formats; and coordinates internal and external duplication services as required.

Creates and improves upon visual work generated for use with internal/external clients including social media distribution, email blasts, prints material, press releases, and other forms of collateral.

Supports, exchanges and cultivates ideas and visual works with coworkers, internal and external clients, and regularly meets production deadlines.

Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.

A minimum of three years of professional experience with graphic design, visual communication, or a related field.

Ability to communicate in American Sign Language.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a higher education setting.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities:

Strong knowledge of current principles of analog and digital video capture.

Strong skills in utilizing a variety of video production equipment and software, including video cameras and recorders, audio recording equipment, file compression software, video switching, character generation, graphics manipulation, lighting, and post-production equipment.

Strong knowledge and skill using Adobe Creative Suite visual and video editing software

Strong ability to properly handle and troubleshoot video production and post-production equipment

Strong skills to translate abstract concepts into effective visual forms

Strong ability to work constructively with a diverse set of stakeholders, both internal and external clients.

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and as an individual contributor.

Strong ability to achieve results in a fast-paced, high growth and changing environment.

Demonstrated ability to work with and across University departments, outside constituents and groups.

Additional Position Details:

The expected start date for this position is October 2024.

The incumbent must be able to work nights or weekends as needed for Marketing and Admission and live stream needs.
