Communications and Marketing DirectorSupervisor: Chief Advancement OfficerSalary: $70,000+ Based on experienceOverview:The Communications and Marketing Director is a key member of The Mount’s senior staff, responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction in marketing, public relations, and communications. This full-time, exempt position focuses on developing and implementing integrated marketing strategies to enhance audience engagement and increase awareness of The Mount’s diverse offerings as both a house museum and bustling cultural center.

Primary Responsibilities:

Public RelationsField ongoing media requests and act as a spokesperson for The Mount, representing the organization to local, regional, and national audiences, as well as the general public.Cultivate and maintain relationships with press contacts at local, regional, and national levels to ensure media coverage.Develop and pitch story ideas to press outlets that support The Mount’s strategic goals and initiatives.Draft and distribute timely press releases and calendar listings to appropriate media outlets.Marketing and AdvertisingCreate and execute an integrated communications plan that aligns with The Mount’s strategic objectives and vision.Develop, manage, and oversee the marketing budget.Establish and maintain relationships with press outlets and community contacts to identify and optimize marketing opportunities.Plan and implement advertising strategies for new and existing exhibitions, programs, events, and community initiatives.Monitor, evaluate, and report on the effectiveness of marketing plans and projects.Collaborate with the Director of Visitor Services and the Programs team to foster community partnerships and support new programming.Support all staff with various print needs, ensuring brand consistency across departments.Collaborate with other Directors to devise community engagement strategies aimed at attracting new audiences and addressing participation barriers.Support the Advancement department with appeals and event collateral as needed.Publications and Website ManagementOversee the production and approval of all marketing and communications materials, including the biannual magazine, program brochures, print and digital ads, and e-newsletters.Oversee The Mount’s website and editorial direction.Advise on social media strategy and direction.Develop metrics and surveys in conjunction with other Directors to measure and collect relevant data.Leadership ResponsibilitiesPrepare reports for the Board of Trustees as needed.Provide support to the Executive Director, including crafting remarks and presentations.Manage and mentor part-time Digital Marketing Manager.Liaise with vendors and manage freelance graphic designer.Necessary Skills and AbilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Strong organizational and analytical skills.Ability to pivot and remain flexible with shifting priorities.Effective team collaboration skills.Capability to give and receive constructive feedback.Interest in graphic design and basic capabilities in the Adobe Creative Suite.Proficiency in Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Experience with WordPress, MailChimp, social media platforms, and Google Analytics is preferred.Education, Experience, and InterestsBachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, museum studies, the arts, arts management, or a related field.A minimum of three to five years of marketing and PR experience is required.Exceptional writing and editing skills are required.Extensive hands-on experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.Additional

The Mount is dedicated to equal employmentopportunities for all applicants and employees. Salary is expected to start at$70,000+ based on qualifications and experience.
