Cleveland County is seeking an experienced Media Relations Manager to join our team. Our county is dedicated to serving its residents and fostering transparent communication.

As the Media Relations Manager, you will oversee and manage the organization's external communications and media relations, building, maintaining, and preserving the positive public image of our county.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive media and public relations strategies for county elected officials.Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets.Serve as the primary spokesperson for county elected officials, effectively communicating their priorities and initiatives to the public.Draft and edit press releases, speeches, talking points, and other communications materials.Organize and coordinate press conferences, interviews, and media events.Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing timely analysis and recommendations.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent messaging and communication across all channels.Manage crisis communications and respond promptly to media inquiries.Stay informed about relevant local and national issues to anticipate potential communication challenges.Utilize social media platforms to enhance the county's online presence and engagement.Plan and coordinate media events.Qualifications:Required:

Proven experience in media relations, public relations, or a related role.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to speak to all levels of staff, management and community stakeholders.Strong supervisory and leadership skills.Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis situations with composure.Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute plans effectively.Experience with social media management and digital communications.Preferred:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, Communications Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.Familiarity or experience with local government operations and policies.Pay and Benefits:
