Job description

This position will work on-site 3 regularly-scheduled half days per week (at least 12 hours), plus additional time outside of these hours as needed. This position will work roughly 15 hours per week.●

Email marketing:

Write and design approximately 30 emails per year, promoting Hall events, providing updates, and highlighting historical information. Create additional invitations, reminders, and post-event communications.●

Social media:

Manage the Hall’s Facebook and Instagram accounts●

Writing and research:

Research fun content for emails, social media, and event-related "curriculum" (audio tours, educational posters, etc.)●

Wedding marketing:

Obtain permission from wedding clients and photographers for imagery to use in social media and on the Knot●

Web work:

Update and maintain the Squarespace website as necessary.●

Design:

Design and manage the printing of programs, postcards, signage, and digital collateral. We currently use Canva for this work.●

Community collaborations:

Share event information with partnering organizations such as Creative Collective and Salem Main Streets. Coordinate marketing assistance for some of Hamilton Hall’s non-profit clients.●

Data entry/organization : Assist with invitation lists and mailings●

Coordination with volunteers and committees for lectures and fundraising events:

Monitor ticket sales and provide updates to event committees, attend planning and board meetings as needed (board meetings and other meetings may be outside of regular business hours), respond to emails, foster positive relationships●

Provide day-of assistance for in-person events:

Set-up, clean-up, managing door lists, setting up refreshments, etc (approximately 5-10 events per year outside of business hours). Please note that outside of some marketing assistance, this position is not expected to attend or manage weddings in any way.●

General office work:

Two to three days a week on-site with at least one day alone during Open Hours. As such, you are the face of the Hall and will get visitors and requests. You should enjoy greeting guests, volunteers, and tourists.Job Skills/Qualifications● Strong written communication skills.● Comfort with web management/design on Squarespace.● Ability to create engaging content and effectively manage social media platforms.● Ability to learn to use Network for Good, our donor management and email communication system● Highly organized and detail-oriented.● Historical orientation and an interest in promoting cultural heritage.● Visual orientation with an eye for design.● Ability to work independently and as part of a team.● Ability to commit to three in-person half days in the office per week● Availability for occasional evenings, weekends, and holiday Mondays.● Occasional light lifting for programs (moving chairs, setting up tables etc)● Lives in Salem or local community (30 minutes or less)Job Type: Part-timePay: From $28.00 per hourExpected hours: 12 – 15 per weekWork Location: In person
