Events. Marketing, and Social Media Coordinator

The goal of the project is to increase the literacy rate, for both adults and youths, in the Joplin, MO area. As a result of data obtained, it was learned that, "our community has at least 11,000 people who read at or below a 3rd grade reading level." The result of which are individuals who might otherwise be qualified, finding themselves unable to compete, both academically, as well as in the labor market, as a consequence of their inability to read and write. Since the effects of illiteracy are far-reaching, and can be felt in almost every aspect of life, the utilization of a VISTA will help to ensure the sustainability of the Literacy Programs offered by NALA.

Member Duties :

Member Activities: 1. Research and design a brochure describing the mission of NALA and the resources it offers. 2. Research and design a press kit to inform local media of both current and future events. 3. Research, design, and coordinate a promotional video. 4. Program / Event Social Media management. 5. Create marketing materials 6. Web site design. 7. Site map design. 8. Recruit Volunteers. 9. Attend event committee meetings. 10. Supervise the annual "Literacy Liftoff Event" 11. Coordinate with event space preparation. 12. Create Event Banner. 13. Communicate events details to volunteers and key players.
