Internal Communications Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Develop and execute a comprehensive internal communications plan in collaboration with the President’s Office.Assess then define key internal communications goals and strategies, evolving them with a strategic planning process.Establish guidelines and protocols for All-Staff communications, including frequency, timing, and channels, and provide guidance and support on message clarity and tone.Manage the cadence and content of internal communications across various departments, ensuring alignment with MFS priorities.Collaborate with the Information Systems (IS) Team to document communications best practices and support the use of MFS-preferred communication technologies and monitor and analyze internal communication metrics to measure engagement and effectiveness.Collaborate with the External Affairs Communications Team to amplify and reinforce public-facing messaging internally, and to uphold MFS’ brand voice and standards across internal communication channels and materials, maintaining consistency with brand standards and visual identity.Coordinate All Staff and Center-based town hall events (in-person, virtual and hybrid) and ensure effective communication and engagement.Assist in developing communications strategies and templates for MFS-wide initiatives, ensuring alignment with MFS goals and messaging.Conduct regular assessments of internal communications effectiveness and propose improvements as needed.Facilitate cohesive communication and consistent messaging among departments, bridging gaps to ensure alignment and coordination across MFS.Provide support in graphic design, and in general copyright support for internal communications materials, ensuring compliance with copyright laws and guidelines.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field is preferred but may be substituted by relevant experience.Minimum 5 years’ experience in internal communications

required , preferably in a non-profit or human services organization.Proven record of accomplishment in developing and executing internal communications strategies.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly and concisely.Strong project management skills, able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Proficiency in content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Confluence), email services (e.g., MailChimp, Marketing Cloud), and digital communication platforms.Strong skills managing virtual and hybrid meetings, and strong proficiency in web-conferencing platforms and tools such as Zoom.Knowledge of best practices in internal communications, including employee engagement strategies and communication technologies.Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with senior leaders and diverse teams, fostering a culture of open communication.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to monitor and analyze internal communication metrics to measure engagement and to assess effectiveness.Familiarity with industry trends and emerging technologies in internal communications, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.Able to work independently and efficiently, and to manage their time and deadlines.REQUIREMENTS

This position is primarily based out of MFS’ Headquarters, located in Chicago’s Loop. Periodic travel to various city and suburban Chicago MFS locations is required. Candidates must have regular access to reliable transportation or a reliable vehicle with insurance.The position is in-office with remote days available as approved by the supervisor.MFS staff are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or have an approved medical exemption prior to starting employment. If an approved medical exemption is obtained, weekly testing may be required (subject to change based on contract or funder requirements or CDC or IDPH guidelines).Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and/or weekends if needed.Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

MFS staff are required to provide proof of vaccination or have an approved Medical exemption prior to starting employment. If an approved Medical is obtained, weekly testing may be required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to sit and stand for sustained periods of time, frequently talk, hear, use hands and fingers to feel, handle and operate objects or controls, and occasionally stand, bend, stretch, stoop, kneel and crouch.The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing and viewing a computer terminal.The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.SALARY:

Compensation is commensurate with years of related experience, position requirements, and candidate qualifications. The average salary for the position is $70,000Metropolitan Family Services offers a very generous benefits packet to our professionals:
