About the role

DoubleVerify is seeking a Head of News to join our Policy, Safety & Global Affairs team. The Head of News will be a senior leader responsible for continuing to grow and strengthen our partnerships with news publishers and lead cross-functional innovation for our solutions that evaluate global news content and support the publisher industry. The person in this role will work to build relationships with publishers, ensure our products continue to evolve to support news media outlets in their monetization, and work with advertiser clients to ensure they are effectively scaling campaigns on news sites within their specific campaign goals. Candidates should have strong existing relationships with news outlets, a clear understanding of digital media monetization and knowledge of or interest in internet policy issues, content policy and media regulatory issues and/or law.

Responsibilities

Cultivate and develop relationships with global, national and local news publishers.

Lead the development of a working group with representatives from media outlets that will partner with DV on product innovations to support news media monetization.

Collaborate with civil society organizations and regulators to ensure DoubleVerify’s approach to classification is supportive of news media.

Drive the team’s strategic planning and effective execution of all news related initiatives including PR and thought leadership.

Guide and oversee policy positions for news content classification.

Maintain strong working relationships with product management and operations teams to ensure policies are implemented across features.

Work closely with cross functional partners to understand and research public opinions and advertiser perspectives in order to inform policy development including policy creation and policy adjustments.

Collaborate with linguists and data scientists creating classification models based on product policy.

Minimum Qualifications

9+ years of work experience in news media advertising and journalism.

Strong existing relationships with new media publishers.

Experience working in or with public policy, product policy, content policy or brand safety and suitability roles or in media regulatory issues, regulation of user generated content, or media policy.

Experience in or working with the technology industry.

Excellent writing and analytical skills.

Familiarity with web and social media content trends.

Passion for building partnerships.

Interest in policy and content classification/moderation.

Experience working cross-functionally to achieve business results.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with national and international policy proposals or frameworks for addressing harmful content online.

Familiarity with internet policy issues.

Familiarity with content moderation or classification.

Masters in Journalism, Public Policy, International Relations, Law or MBA.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on a number of non-discriminating factors, including qualifications for the role, level, skills, experience, location, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at DV.The estimated salary range for this role based on the qualifications set forth in the job description is between [$162,000 - $212,000]. This role will also be eligible for bonus/commission (as applicable), equity, and benefits.The range above is for the expectations as laid out in the job description; however, we are often open to a wide variety of profiles, and recognize that the person we hire may be more or less experienced than this job description as posted.
