POSITION SUMMARY:

This position has oversight and accountability of all Commercial Soft Surface Product Design and Development management and processes to ensure that design direction and aesthetic intent is achieved, as directed by the VP of Design. Full responsibility, as studio director, to lead creative team to meet on time launch objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execution of Product Design and Development plans to include Modular, Woven, Broadloom, Hybrid and Area Rug platforms.

• Direct, manage, and assign workload to Soft Surface Product Designers based in Dalton.

• Oversight of HR requirements for direct reports

• Foster a collaborative studio environment that focuses on trust, creativity, transparency and innovative design.

• Work intuitively with VP of Design to execute design direction and intent.

• Lead designers in achieving the stylistic and aesthetic directional goals

• Manage design requests for custom development in collaboration with Custom Design Manager

• Collaborate with Soft Surface Product Manager and Segment Directors to gain market insight

• Strategize VOC and in market events in collaboration with VP of Design and Sales

• Collaborate with the manufacturing team to push the envelope on machine capabilities

• Work closely with Resilient Product Development teams during development, concepting, and other collaborative opportunities

• Travel and represent Tarkett for market research and feedback, customer product presentations, and participation in industry design and trade shows.

• Work with global Tarkett studios to collaborate and coordinate product

• Develop and nurture relationships with vendors to create new and innovative products

• Business Acumen - Ability to read, analyze, comprehend, and make decisions based on data

• Continuously building relationships with clients, A&D firms, and sales through field travel, customer presentations, and site tours.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, with a Textile Design focus

• 10+ years flooring design and product development experience with 5+ years in Soft Surface design development and 5+ years in a design management role.

• Organization skills to manage multiple projects

• Mastery of Communication and Presentation skills

• Ability to lead and take direction

• Ability to present ideas and concepts with clarity, passion, and commitment.

• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers

• Effectively evaluate and improve upon product for aesthetics and communicate design and technology direction

• Focus on execution and prioritization

• Ability to coach, critique, motivate, and lead designers

• Consistently exhibit overall preparedness for all responsibilities

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Master proficiency computer skills to include Ned Graphics, Tuft, and Photoshop software, with proficiency level skills in Microsoft products, e-mail and routine database activity.
