Job Description Summary

Soft Surface Commercial Carpet Designer, contributing to the design of New Product Development through creative concept design research, exploration, and artistic studio practice. Building a cadence of design patterns, prototype, and color development in collaboration with Design Studio team input, close guidance with Design Director, contributing to the story telling as lead by the VP of Design. Some custom carpet design projects as distributed, working side by side with internal sales team and external interior designer and owner operator clients.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Designer, you will report to the Design Studio manager and be part of a creative team that designs both carpet tile and broadloom running line and custom product. This position will engage your pattern and color skillset for contribution to new Product Development projects, Commercial Segment specific collections, and new initiatives. This is both an artistic and textile-design role with a textile and design understanding of soft surface floorcovering constructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major responsibility to create patterns, ideas, and color direction for the design of innovative products.Develop exceptional running line and custom design by using computer aided design system (CAD).Ability to participate in client meetings, make presentations, and be engaged in presenting new and inspiring ideas and concepts to the design studio team.Responsible for utilizing strong original artistic skill to take designs from concept to full color palette product completion.Must be able to identify a problem and implement innovative solutions with little to no assistance.Work independently and with Product Development team in Dalton to design exceptional running line style and custom designs using computer aided design systemTake ownership of large projects and see through to completion; to include reviewing marketing material for projectsDevelop conceptual ideas through research and artistic experimentation.Lead and interact with customers during client visits and mill toursDevelop project focused custom carpet solutions through a collaborative environment working with account executives and external clientsTravel and participate in market research and feedback, customer product presentations, industry design and trade showsActively participate in design critique, process feedback, and self-critique during design processREQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelors degree in design/art-related field, (fine art, surface design, textile design)Minimum 1+ years experience as a textile designer, open to new graduatesFlooring industry experience preferred but not required.QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong artistic and textile design skills with a high color acuityPassionate and high achievement orientationCollaborative, creative, team-oriented styleDisciplined execution and follow through skills and work ethicResults-driven, determined, and flexibleCommunication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are key strengths.Excellent demonstrated communication skills and constructive critique skills.Master proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, and other Creative Suite Digital Design skillsProficiency in Ned Graphics- Texcelle &Tuft, a nice to have familiarity of the softwareProficiency in Microsoft products, e-mail, and routine database activity.What We Offer
