We are seeking a passionate and skilled Communications Specialist to join our team at The Formation Project. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing our communications strategies to effectively promote our mission, engage stakeholders, and support fundraising efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communications, content creation, excellent writing skills, and experience in non-profit environments. Schedule: • The typical working hours are Monday - Friday, 40 hours a week, between the hours of 8:00am - 6:00pm • Work is hybrid, remote and in-person options depending on the supervisor’s request and organizational needs

Compensation:

The annual salary range is $45,000-$56,0000 depending on experience. Benefits include a monthly health reimbursement for employees; all regular, full-time employees accrue PTO time at a rate of 176 hours per year or 14.67 hours per month their first year; a mental health day each quarter; 9 holidays and a week-long Winter Break at the end of the year; there is a potential 1-time moving stipend. *A SIMPLE IRA retirement plan with a percentage employer match will be in place by the end of the first year of employment. Top 4 Priorities:

• Create, update, and manage communications (all social media, eblasts, website, printed material, etc.) • Assist with event planning and implementation • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization and represent it at events, conferences, and public engagements, including answering the main phone line and email • Assist with training, coordinating, and communicating with volunteers

Responsibilities include aspects of the following:

• Assist in the development and execution of communications plans to promote organizational goals and initiatives. For example, create and maintain a bi-weekly social media content creation and posting schedule and ensure consistent adherence to the posting plan. • Create compelling content for various platforms including website, social media, newsletters, press releases, and annual reports. • Manage and update content on the organization’s website to ensure accuracy and relevance; manage the organization’s brand and ensure consistency in messaging across all communications channels. • Cultivate relationships with media contacts and pitch stories to garner positive media coverage. • Draft and distribute press releases to media outlets when relevant. • Coordinate and execute the design, production, and distribution of promotional materials such as brochures, flyers, and videos. • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of communications strategies and campaigns. • Assist with fundraising efforts by developing and executing annual fundraising plans, including individual giving campaigns, major donor cultivation, and potential grant writing. • Research and identify potential funding sources, develop proposals and manage grant applications and reporting. • Support fundraising efforts by assisting in creating persuasive fundraising appeals and donor communications. • Assist with donor care, sending donation thank you notes and donation receipts in a timely manner. • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify fundraising opportunities and strategies. • Organize and manage fundraising events and campaigns to engage donors and raise funds for the organization. • Analyze and report on the effectiveness of communications and fundraising efforts using metrics and data-driven insights. • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure messaging consistency and alignment with organizational objectives. • Train, supervise, and mentor interns and volunteers. tracking and recording time spent serving the organization. • Serve as a spokesperson for the organization and represent it at events, conferences, and public engagements. • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in communications and apply them to enhance organizational communications strategies. • Commitment to the mission and values of The Formation Project. • Answer main phone line and info email address in an appropriate and timely manner Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and impact effectively. • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media, email marketing, and website management. • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including board members, donors, volunteers, and staff. • Knowledge of and passion for the organization's cause and mission.
