Position Summary:

The Marketing & Communications Manager enhances Cape Abilities’ visibility, engages key stakeholders, and drives donor support through innovative marketing and communication initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this role plays a pivotal part in supporting and executing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the organization's mission, values, and fundraising goals. Additionally, this position will support external marketing for the organization's two social enterprises, aiming to increase their market presence and support their growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

In partnership with the VP of Development create and implement a cohesive marketing and communications strategy that supports the organization’s development objectives and enhances brand awareness.

Collaborate with the VP of Development to identify key target audiences and tailor messaging to reach and engage these groups effectively.

Gather, analyze, and monitor market trends, competitor activities, and donor behaviors to inform strategic decisions and improve campaign effectiveness.

Campaign Development and Management:

Create, execute, and evaluate multi-channel marketing campaigns, including digital, print, social media, and email marketing.

Ensure all marketing materials and communications align with the organization’s brand, voice, and mission.

Create newsletters, press releases, annual reports, donor communications, photography, website pages, and social platforms, ensuring high-quality and impactful messaging.

Collaborate on and manage a strategic Marketing and Communications calendar.

Stakeholder Engagement:

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external.

Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and manage the organization’s public relations efforts.

Coordinate interviews, talking points/speeches, and prep staff including President & CEO as opportunities arise.

Manage photo releases in compliance with state guidelines, and coordinate with parents and guardians to secure necessary permissions.

Digital Strategy and Online Presence:

Coordinate and collaborate on the organization’s digital strategy, including website and platform management, social media presence, and online fundraising campaigns.

Utilize data analytics to track the performance of digital marketing initiatives and optimize strategies for increased engagement and conversion rates.

Stay in tune with emerging digital trends and technologies to continuously enhance the organization’s online footprint.

External Marketing for Social Enterprises:

Assist in implementing marketing strategies specifically for the organization's two social enterprises.

Collaborate with the social enterprise teams to understand their unique value propositions and effectively communicate these to target audiences.

Create and manage marketing campaigns highlighting social enterprises' social impact and benefits, leveraging various channels to reach potential customers and partners.

Team Collaboration:

Work closely with other departments to ensure integrated and aligned communications efforts.

Manage relationships with potential external vendors and consultants to support the execution of marketing and communications activities.

Provide event support for Development-led events.

Budget Management:

With support from the VP of Development, create and manage the marketing and communications budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize impact and ROI.

Track and report on the financial performance of marketing initiatives, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.

The Marketing and Communications Manager is a critical driver of the organization's development success, bringing creativity, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the nonprofit landscape to enhance our impact and achieve our goals. This role is also instrumental in promoting our social enterprises, ensuring they thrive and contribute to our overarching mission.
