Description

TriMet seeks a seasoned marketing manager to develop and execute comprehensive marketing campaigns to engage, attract, and retain new and existing riders with a focus on multicultural engagement.

Extensive experience in utilizing all available advertising channels, ad production, media sales and negotiating, social media, experiential event marketing and public relations is preferred.

But that's not all... we're looking for someone with experience gathering, analyzing and taking action on research and data ranging from demographic information, and rider specific information to media delivery results from traditional and digital channels.

This position will also manage a team of seasoned marketers as well as research analysts so we're looking for a unique individual ready to lead our growth as we endeavor to bring more of the community onto transit.

Manage and advance TriMet's strategic marketing strategy and promotional plans designed to engage, attract, and retrain new and existing riders (customers) with a focus on multicultural engagement in TriMet's creative, messaging and marketing-communication channels. Lead a fully integrated, rider-centric marketing approach utilizing promotions, events, sponsorships, partnerships and key messages across marketing channels and customer touch-points. Provide ongoing evaluation of the results of developed marketing campaigns, lead rider focused market research efforts, and incorporate marketing efforts with events, sponsorships and partnerships in diverse communities and in multiple languages.

This position will report to the Director of Marketing and Business Development, and help to build dedicated brand programs (e.g., social, mass media, experiential) to engage with multicultural audiences in the tri-county area (Multnomah, Washington and Clackamas counties). This position will also manage the marketing team, and the rider research team.

This role requires being in office three (3) days per week.

Serve as a good steward of TriMet by regularly utilizing our transit system to maintain a strong and current understanding of customers' experiences and of TriMet's product and service offerings.

Essential Functions

1. Develop, manage and evaluate all broad-based agency advertising, including print, newspaper, direct mail, radio, television and all online media. Evaluate and approve media buying for all media. Develop project timelines and goals, and ensure that all aspects of project requirements are met. Work closely with the research team to integrate research data into broad-based advertising messages. Coordinate efforts between external advertising agency and/or creative advertising firms and internal Creative Services/Rider Communication departments on joint projects.

2. Manage, plan, direct, coordinate and review the work of assigned staff. Strategically lead and evaluate employee work activities to meet department and agency goals by effectively developing, implementing, assessing, and measuring performance outcomes on a planned, periodic basis. Provide training, coaching, counseling, support, and recognition to employees in order to maximize employee performance and job satisfaction.

3. Research and identify priority target groups within multicultural and diverse audiences that are commercially viable. Effective collaboration with insights and analytics teams to develop business cases is critical.

4. Create a short and long-term multicultural go-to-market plan by prioritizing and translating business situation(s), marketing goals and information into strategic brand concepts, research/consumer insights, tone of voice guidelines, messaging and business rationale.

5. Support the ongoing development, refinement and evolution of the Public Affairs team's strategy through partnerships with outside marketing/communications/creative agencies to drive ridership and fare programs with multicultural audiences.

6. Be a key voice of the multicultural prospect and across all strategic campaigns.

7. Ensure campaign adherence to policies and processes regarding brand review, legal approval, and compliance requirements.

8. Provide input and best practices as they relate to communications, outreach and customer experience strategies with multicultural audiences.

9. Co-manage third-party vendor and external agency partner administrative tasks to include finance billing, performance reporting, and compliance auditing.

10. Own the budget and monthly forecast process, ensuring full utilization and on-time project execution.

11. Engage with internal teams and other community leaders to ensure our multicultural promotional strategies align with brand strategy and broader corporate objectives.

Position Requirements

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree is required with a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and/or Communication being preferred.

Six (6) years of relevant experience in marketing with proven history of executing marketing campaigns, and developing new processes and strategies that drive ridership and growth within channel marketing programs is required.

Four (4) years of relevant experience in marketing, creative and messaging development specific to multicultural community groups, and in multiple languages is preferred.

Two (2) years of experience in Hispanic consumer marketing is ideal, but not required; highly versed experience in building promotional campaigns across multicultural paid media channels, particularly among the Hispanic, Black-African American and Asian American communities is preferred.

Two (2) years of transit-related experience and advertising agency experience is preferred.

Two (2) years of direct management experience of a staff of at least two (2) or more is required.

Two (2) years of lead or project management or staff management.

Or any equivalent combination of training or experience.

*The amount of credit a candidate receives for prior years of experience is based on the relevancy of that experience to the required or preferred prerequisites of the job description. Experience is prorated based on hours worked. LRHR assigns and validates the "credited experience".

Salary RangeMinimum: $105,613.00Maximum: $158,418.00Salary offers will be determined by a candidate's education, training and relevant experience. Any final offer of employment will fall within the range stated above. For transparency, we choose to list the full available grade range, however, TriMet's salary administration process will ultimately determine the final salary offered.

TriMet matches the equivalent of 10 percent of a non-union employee's base pay into an investment account each pay period. The employee also has the option of contributing up to 15 percent of his/her base pay pre-tax to the account each pay period. The employee directs the investment of the employee's individual account. The employee is vested in the account after three years of service.

Deferred Compensation Plan 457A Deferred Compensation Plan Section 457 (a plan for public employees) allows the employee to build retirement savings with pre-tax dollars to supplement pension, Social Security and private investment.

k LeaveEmployees receive 12 sick days of leave for a total of 96 hours (8 hours x 12 days) each January 1. Unused sick leave can be carried over to a maximum of 1,700 hours (212.5 days). Employees hired mid-year receive a prorated amount of sick leave for the first year hired. Upon separation, 60% of accrued sick leave is deposited into your 401(a) account up to a maximum of 1,700 hours.

HolidaysNon-Union employees have one day off with pay on each of the following holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, the day following Thanksgiving, and Christmas.

Personal DaysEach regular non-union employee is allotted six (6) personal days with pay to be used within the calendar year. Employees hired mid-year receive a prorated amount of personal day for the first year hired.
