Job Responsibilities

Performs inspection for moderate-level maintenance contracts on state roads in Pickens County, such as roadway mowing, vegetation or tree removal, street sweeping, etc., where field measurements for payment are required. Enters daily inspection data into the Highway Maintenance Management System (HMMS). Responsible for gathering data and creating contracts for Pickens Maintenance to include on call concrete, RPMs (Reflective Pavement Markings), long line thermo, tree removal, brush management, lawn care, etc. Assists in conducting field inspections on complex contracts or permits requiring firm understanding of technical aspects including traffic control, concrete, asphalt, earthwork, environmental, and safety procedures. Assists in obtaining information necessary to prepare reports required for project development. Required to work during snow and ice or inclement weather to provide support to the office operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The physical demands for the essential functions of this position involve sitting or standing at a desk for extended periods of time. This position may require occasional travel. This position may require bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, and kneeling. This position required driving and walking for extended periods, treading rough and uneven terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and natural environmental hazards. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. May be required to work outside of normal work schedule, especially during inclement weather and/or other departmental-related emergencies. This position may be exposed to outside environment in all weather conditions and noise.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and one (1) year of experience that is related to the area of employment; or an approved acceptable equivalence.Additional Comments
