Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications:Under the direction of the Director of Marketing & Communications, this employee helps Patriots Point achieve its mission of honoring veterans and educating the community about naval and maritime history. This position will lead marketing projects and manage a comprehensive tourism marketing and advertising plan that establishes Patriots Point as a premier state attraction and museum. The job duties of this position include but are not limited to the following:

Supervises staff to include preparing performance planning and evaluation documents and related personnel paperwork. Coaches, counsels, and trains employees. Establishes and monitors work processes. Implements management policies and initiatives and promotes teamwork.The marketing manager articulates the Patriots Point brand and leads marketing and advertising functions for revenue streams, including admission, day groups, overnight stays, and events rentals. This person assists with the development and spending of the marketing and advertising budget and is responsible for managing the creative process for marketing materials, including radio commercials, digital ads, and sales pieces. Attention to detail and brand standards is critical. This position will manage the daily/weekly projects with the Patriots Point's marketing agency of record. The marketing manager may lead special projects as designated by the department director.Manages the production of marketing materials for use within the museum including signage, posters and promotional items.Employee may be required to work after normal working hours; on weekends, holidays, special events, and/or emergencies. Employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned to complete the mission of the agency.Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree and/or directly related experience equal to or better than three (3) years in marketing and/or advertising activities.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employee must have an understanding of the marketing and advertising planning processes and evaluation. Must be able to create presentations and prepare reports.Employee must have knowledge of different types of advertising media as well as the process of producing creative messaging for each.Employee should have the ability to manage digital marketing strategies and the budgeting and advertising planning process.Must have the ability to manage work and provide guidance as well as positive leadership to subordinates.

Preferred Qualifications
