The Illinois Department of Revenue Office of Publications Management is looking to hire highly motivated, organized, and creative individuals for our Graphic Arts Designer Advanced position. The ideal candidate will be able to utilize their extensive knowledge of graphic design tools to generate professional results and meet deadlines for multipleprojects. The position will be responsible for projects encompassing the design and planning of printed and audio-visual material used for communicating to a wide audience with a focus on readability and clear messaging.

Essential Functions

Under general direction, performs highly skilled, professional graphic design, layout and planning functions of printed and audio-visual material for the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) used for communicating to a wide audience with a focus on readability and clear messaging.Serves as project lead, or designer-in-charge, for graphic arts projects (including print, digital, and audio-visual projects) requested by a variety of professional areas at IDOR.Produces artwork for printing or digital publishing and related multi-media through computer software or online tools.Conducts research, utilizes software tutorials and guides, and participates in trainings to stay current with technology and techniques used in graphic arts project development and production.Follows office procedures and standards for project development and approvals, including maintaining image and file libraries for reference of historical projects and for use in future projects.Maintains and uses multi-media equipment (i.e., computer, camera, video, audio, etc.), provides recommendations for updating and maintaining state of the art computer equipment and software, and provides related training.Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.Minimum Qualifications

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to four years of college with a concentration in art, computer art, graphic design or related subject.Requires two years of professional experience in art/design production or graphics in both printed and electronic media.Preferred Qualifications

Three (3) year of experience in planning and production of professional promotional, educational, and informational graphic and multi-media material used for communicating to a wide audience.Bachelor's degree in computer art, graphic arts design, or related degree.Three (3) years of experience creating visual design, graphic presentations for forms, publications, electronic media, etc. using appropriate software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Acrobat Professional, as well as Microsoft PowerPoint, and Excel to create graphic arts productions.Three (3) years of experience working with printing techniques and electronic publishing as related to graphic and multi-media presentation.One (1) year of experience creating digital graphic and multi-media products that comply with ADA accessibility requirements.Conditions of Employment

Requires the ability to successfully complete a tax compliance and fingerprint-based background check.Requires the ability to use and secure a state issued mobile device, e.g., cellular phone, laptop computer, tablet, etc.Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.The conditions of employment listed here are incorporated and related to any of the job duties as listed in the job description.
