About This PositionMass Audubon is looking for a creative, results-oriented communicator to help tell our story at both the regional and statewide level, in alignment with the organization’s Action Agenda. The Regional Communications/Marketing Specialist will serve as a member of the Cape Cod team, as well as work directly with the statewide Marketing and Communications team. The Regional Communications/Marketing Specialist will be responsible for managing a varied portfolio of region-based communications that inform and inspire multiple audiences about our regional, coastal, and organization-wide activities and projects, including social media; enews and webpages; print media, radio, and film; interpretive exhibits; marketing and promotional materials; and departmental reports. This position also supports statewide themed events by leading coordination efforts on a local level.

ResponsibilitiesAct as the region’s chief storyteller, assembling content for all mediums that highlights what is happening across the region, inspires people to visit our sanctuaries, and encourages people to take action and get involvedCollaborate regularly with statewide Marketing and Communications team members, including serving as the Cape’s representative on the statewide Marketing Plus peer working groupManage the region’s social media, enews, and webpages, ensuring each channel is engaging, responsive, and up-to-dateDevelop high-quality written content that tells engaging, inspiring stories about our programs (science, education, operations) and connection to, and impact of, Mass Audubon’s Action Agenda and prioritiesUnder the direction of the statewide Communications and PR team, manage and respond to Cape-focused media inquiries and projects from local, national, and international outlets including serving as field coordinator for radio and film/documentary projects; assist the statewide team, as needed, with writing and distributing Cape-related press releasesWorking closely with the statewide Design team, manage and produce regular seasonal updates of interpretive exhibits and aquarium educational signage with input from local and statewide Visitor Services, Education, and Communications staffImplement statewide guidance on trail and directional signage and other related visitor services written materials and signageServe as a strategic partner in program development and promotion, identifying ways to increase enrollment and reach new audiences; provide feedback on descriptions and monitor online program listingsWork with the statewide Marketing Team to produce promotional materials, including but not limited to press releases, flyers, rack cards, brochures, banners, and invitationsIn coordination with the statewide Marketing team, take or gather region-specific images and videos for the statewide media library which may include contracting and guiding professional photographersWork with regional Development team members to help produce collateral and appeals, as well copy edit grant proposals and reportsSupport internal staff communications by managing and regularly updating Cape Cod related content on Mass Audubon’s Regional Intranet SitesSupport internal volunteer communications by producing copy for, and editing, targeted communications such as the volunteer newsletterWorking with regional and statewide staff, serve as lead on the local level to coordinate and deliver statewide themed events in the Cape regionAttend and assist with programs and special events as needed, particularly to generate news stories and publicityThis position may occasionally serve in a visitor services capacity, if needed, during staff absencesQualificationsAt Mass Audubon, our highest priority is finding the best candidate for the job. Compensation, Benefits and PerksThis position’s pay range is $49,862-$52,799 per year (based on 0.8 FTE); actual salary will reflect level of experience and qualifications relative to position requirements.

Work ScheduleThis position is full-time at 32 hours per week. Work week is typically Tuesday through Friday, but some evening and weekend hours may be required. Work is primarily conducted in-person, based out of Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, but serves as in a regional capacity, so occasional travel within the Cape and off-Cape is required.
