DescriptionThis position will be filled at the I, II or III level depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The position will be based out of the Department of Transportation/Public Works offices in Creve Coeur. The qualifications of the selected individual will determine whether the position is filled at level I, II or III. For more information regarding this program, please visit https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service.Examples of Duties* Responsible for the development of design plans, schedules and budgets forroadway projects.* Applies appropriate engineering principles, practices and regulatory requirements to roadway design projects.* Assists with managing outside design consultants.* Analyzes and reviews designs, plans and maps in accordance with general engineering principles and regulatory requirements.* Calculates cost and determines feasibility of project based on analysis of collected data.* Prepares engineering reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules and environmental impact studies.* Makes regular project site visits to ensure accuracy of field data collected.* Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsTo qualify for a Project Manager I, candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field or have an equivalent amount of training and experience.To qualify for a Project Manager II, candidates should have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) and be registered as a Engineering Intern with the Missouri Board of Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors.To qualify for a Project Manager III, candidates should be Registered Professional Engineers by the Missouri Board of Engineers, Architects and Land Surveyors and have five years of practical experience.Additional InformationSELECTION AND APPOINTMENT: A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant which will include recentness and appropriateness of the applicant's education and experience, answers to the supplemental questions, results of employment references investigated and any other appropriate information available. The selection committee will admit to the interview only those persons who possess the most job related qualifications and may establish admittance criteria beyond the minimum qualifications stated above.Responses provided to the interview questions listed under the Supplemental Question heading of this posting will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade. A candidate must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more on the interview to be eligible for appointment. Once questions are scored, an email will be sent to the address on file with instructions on how to complete and submit a Conviction Questionnaire. Candidates have 3 days to complete the required questionnaire.The five top ranking candidates, based on the final grade, will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority who will make the final decision.All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Screening will be performed by a reputable clinical laboratory.
