Job Level: 10Job Code: 2056The Program Coordinator of Development for theNasher Museum of Art at Duke University plans, coordinates and administershighly personalized donor communications and stewardship. In addition tosupporting the Director of Development & Major Gifts, the ProgramCoordinator of Development also manages development team projects, fosters teamefficiency through administrative organization and liaises with museum anduniversity colleagues to advance Nasher development strategies and objectives.This position also allows the Director of Development & Major Gifts to beexternally focused on program management, fundraising and donor cultivation andstewardship.Work Performed:50% Stewardship &Impact ReportingMaintain stewardship of donors, including tracking donors inNasher Museum’s database in conjunction with Duke’s Alumni Development Database(DADD); pipeline development; shape and continuously evaluate and improve donorexperience; enhance cultivation and stewardship strategies for current andprospective leadership donors.Develop and implement additional donor stewardship strategies(beyond standard/timely gift acknowledgement), including but not limited toannual recognition of current/new donors and members, annual recognition ofhigher-level donors, notification when gifts of work are included in a NasherMuseum exhibition or installation, real-time special recognition of first-timedonors and members and additional stewardship of exhibition supporters.Provide customized acknowledgements for upper-level donors anddonors of gifts of work, seamlessly crafting text reflective of the voice,style and donor relationships of the Museum Director as well as the Director ofDevelopment & Major Gifts.Plan, coordinate and manage administrative and project-orientedactivities.Focus on developing and delivering projects, reports andanalysis to advance fundraising for prioritized initiatives.Assist Director of Development & Major Gifts in prospectingfor travel, solicitation and stewardship projects.Support annual stewardship activities including stewardship ofendowed and non-endowed funds and capital projects for principal/top donors,and ad hoc stewardship requestsFacilitate the personalized student letter project. Request,review, format and proof personalized student letters to be sent to top donorsthroughout the year.Provide stewardship contact to top donors, as needed.Facilitate preparation and compilation of comprehensivestewardship reports and customized financial reports for top donors.Assist with planning and management of events which recognizedonors and faculty members.Prepare standard materials for stewardship activities includingproducing letters, gaining appropriate signature, tracking progress andensuring timely delivery.Assist with editing and proofreading of development materials,reports and correspondence, as required.25% Engagement &RetentionAssist in enhancing and developing membership policies andprocedures in collaboration with the Annual Fund and Membership Officer.In partnership with the Director of Development, refine andarticulate funding opportunities and priorities using donor-focused language.Serve as an additional point of contact and content expert toUniversity Development on Nasher giving opportunities.Prepare development team materials, including writing andediting presentations, proposals and other materials for distribution orpublication. Serve as point of contact for museum Marketing Departmentand University Development for production of development materials.· Participate in professional training and development courses offered at DukeUniversity for DADD database as well as other donor relations, engagement andstewardship trainings or conferences regionally or nationally.25% Acknowledgment& RecognitionOversee acknowledgement, recognition and sustained stewardshipprocesses.Communicate development standards to ensure a consistent donorthank you experienceImplement broad strategy for development and endowed giftrecognition and for donors to include a singular giving society.Research and recommend new and innovative stewardshipprogramming to promote continued/future giving, and manage gift acknowledgementand recognition, including letters, press releases, events, plaques and customrecognition activities and gifts.Skills Required:Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement and experiencehandling confidential informationStrong communication skills, especially in written formHigh-level understanding of customer service priorities andobjectives, as well as essential interpersonal skills to build donor andcolleague relationshipsAbility to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, workingboth independently and as a team memberKeen sense of personal initiative and eagerness to deliverresults of the highest qualityUnderstanding of conventions of project management,fundraising/development and donor relationsKnowledge and expertise using MS Office products, Excel, DADDand especially Outlook2-3 years of relevant development experience preferredAdditional Expectations:Adhere to Nasher Museum and Duke University’s policies andproceduresWork responsibly and discreetly with confidential and sensitivedonor and financial informationMaintain an upbeat, respectful and team-focused attitudeDemonstrate flexible and efficient time management and abilityto prioritize workloadRegularly attend staff and departmental meetingsUse knowledge of advancement database systems and fundraisingbest practicesUse data collection and reporting for establishing andevaluating success metrics around the team’s direct and indirect impact onfundraising for core partners, service provision to core and consultingpartners and interaction with frontline fundraisers.Work with Director of Development & Major Gifts to develop asuite of standardized and customized reports, identifying efficiencies that canbe gained by partnering with internal development partners like PRMAAssist in arranging and coordinating donor visits and tours oncampus, etc.Occasional evening and weekend hours may be requiredAll applicants should apply to the Dukewebsite .
