Marketing and Communications Manager of Grassroots

REPORTS TO: Director of Communications
PURPOSE: Create, implement, and oversee marketing and communications strategies that effectively promote USA Softball's grassroots initiatives, local associations, National Championships, and Sport Development programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
General:
  • Lead the marketing and communications efforts for USA Softball's grassroots programs, creating engaging content to promote USA Softball across all 50 states.
  • Develop and execute a year-round marketing and communications plan to provide positive media coverage of grassroots events, local associations, and National Championships.
  • Capture and produce video and photo content at grassroots events, sharing these through social media and other digital platforms to enhance USA Softball's presence.
  • Work closely with National Championship and tournament directors to establish live streaming of USA Softball events and ensure quality content is produced.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for grassroots event activations, coordinating video and photo captures at Devon Park and other event locations.
  • Assist the Membership Department in amplifying local association events through social media and newsletters, driving participation and membership growth.
  • Maintain a historical archive of USA Softball National Championships records, stats, and other relevant information.
  • Assist the Director of Umpires with educational content to cover umpire training and mechanics.
Digital Marketing:
  • Create and manage social media content, ensuring relevant and engaging posts for USA Softball's grassroots audience.
  • Collaborate with partners to promote grassroots initiatives, such as Major League Baseball's Play Ball and Pitch Hit Run programs, through digital marketing strategies.
  • Assist in promoting USA Softball partnerships by creating and distributing content that highlights the benefits and stories of athletes, coaches, and umpires.
  • Manage and update local association information on USASoftball.com, ensuring accurate and current content.
  • Work with the communications department as a webmaster for USASoftball.com, focusing on grassroots-related content.
Events and Activations:
  • Support grassroots marketing initiatives at Devon Park, tradeshows, council meetings, and other events to enhance brand awareness and engagement.
  • Assist in promoting the USA Softball Hall of Fame Museum through grassroots marketing and social media.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to work at National Headquarters in Oklahoma City, OK.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Excellent organizational focus and attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of marketing, digital marketing, and social media strategies.
  • Clear, concise, and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be a self-starter and work in a team environment.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends and travel domestically/internationally.
  • Works effectively and quickly in a dynamic environment with exceptional prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy packages and work outside for events.
  • Eager to learn in an ever-changing industry with a passion for sports, softball preferred.
  • Two years of related experience preferred.
  • Graphic design and video editing capabilities (Canva, Adobe, CapCut).
Ideal Candidate Profile:
  • Experience: 2-4 years in grassroots marketing or community engagement.
  • Skills: Strong social media, writing, and communication skills.
  • Personality: Passionate about sports, especially softball, and highly engaging.

Salary range for this position is $40,000-50,000, depending on experience.
