Job title: Director of Marketing and Sales FLSA Status: Exempt

Position summary: Responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining a comprehensive not-for-profit marketing effort across all areas of living at Uplands Village. Works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, visitors, prospects and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment in the office. All tasks are performed in accordance with current standards, policies, guidelines and regulations and in a safe and efficient manner.
Essential skill and experience:
  • Minimum five years of marketing/sales administration experience.
  • Must execute marketing/sales service in accordance with policies and procedures and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Associates degree or equivalent experience in the field of administration, business, health, marketing or related and communicative skills; auditory and visual skills; satisfactory completion pre-employment process as required.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations prospects.
  • Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a one-to-five year time span.
  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and a functional level.
  • Must have patience, tact and enthusiasm, as well as willingness to handle difficult prospects.
  • Positive, confident and a relationship builder.
  • An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of the organization and possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in marketing database software and reporting formats.
Preferred skill and experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Business or other marketing related degree or 5 or more years of experience in a related field.
  • Minimum five years marketing/sales experience in senior housing, preferred.

Reporting to this position: Sales Counselor; Marketing Planner

Essential duties:
  • Design and implement a comprehensive marketing and sales program and appropriate marketing strategies for both local and national markets.
  • Develop comprehensive sales and marketing plans and programs for the Uplands Village community, including independent living, assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing rehabilitation and long-term care.
  • Census development and revenue generation to meet pre-established sales goals for all areas of living at Uplands Village (IL, AL, SNF).
  • Promote the Life Plan Community concept.
  • Organizes and develops specific customer relations programs determining organizations presence at conventions, annual meetings, trade associations, and seminars.
  • Maintain knowledge about the senior housing market, competition and economic environment as it relates to Uplands (IL, AL, SNF).
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  • Provide marketing information by answering questions and requests.
  • Contributes to marketing effectiveness by identifying short term and long-range issues that must be addressed providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations, recommending options and course of action.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Plans, develops, schedules and carries out marketing events.
  • Develops and monitors marketing and sales budgets.
  • Develops and maintains systematic market intelligence gathering and reporting efforts.
  • Makes written and oral reports/recommendations to the Executive Director concerning sales/marketing. This includes physical properties appearance as they affect the department's overall objectives.
  • Keep current on industry trends, regulations, and competition.
  • Participates in community service, civic groups, and networking programs to maintain their awareness and support of the company.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a positive tone and atmosphere for the Uplands Village community.
  • Provide sales/marketing supervision and leadership to marketing staff.
  • Mentor, coach and train internal and external sales and marketing staff.
  • Conduct sales training.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Executive Director.

  • Responsible for maintaining close working relationships with the Board of Directors and the active, ongoing, and smooth functioning of this Board as it seeks to market Uplands.
  • Influences present and future prospects by determining and evaluating current and future market trends and giving input to the board of directors.
