THE ROLE:
The Creative Director, Brand & Marketing at EBONY is an creative visionary who lives and breathe culture and is passionate about EBONY's legacy, and its ongoing commitment to delivering excellence to the global Black community. Leading artistic vision and strategy across the organization, this person will concept and pitch creative ideas, as well as get hands on with designs, driving their vision through production, post-production, distribution, and activation. The Creative Director will reinforce the unique and exciting vision for EBONY, ensuring consistency across its look, feel and tone, while ensuring brand alignment across all platforms. The Creative Director will partner with creative minds within the organization as well as lead direct reports and designers and copywriters as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creativity & Direction:

  • Lead the creative vision for the brand and implement consistently across all marketing-first touchpoints as well as provide tactical tone/visual needs throughout the organization
  • Develop and execute creative concepts and campaigns that will elevate the brand and inspire the current and next generation of EBONY
  • Design assets and collateral in partnership with teams, ensuring quality output within deadlines and budgets
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and design content that tells the brand story and supports marketing initiatives
  • Establish creative points of view that can be translated across departments, channels, and mediums
  • Conceptualize, develop, and pitch creative ideas, driving vision from production to distribution and activation
  • Uphold a high standard of creative excellence in all brand materials
  • Stay current on creative and design trends to continually evolve the brand
Visionary Leadership:
  • Lead and grow a talented creative team, inspiring and mentoring them to reach their full potential and fostering an innovative, collaborative culture
  • Oversee a team of internal and external creative resources with eye for high quality, on-brand outputs
  • Provide mentorship, resources, and training for a collaborative and innovative work environment
Performance / Excellence:
  • Evaluate quality of creative assets, adherence to brand guidelines, and team productivity
  • Monitor adherence to brand guidelines, audience response, engagement rates, and customer feedback
  • Assess production quality of video and visual assets, considering audience engagement metrics
  • Ensure consistency of brand messaging and visual identity across all touch points.
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of hands-on creative experience spanning design, events, and branded content, with a strong visual portfolio demonstrative of hands-on design experience
  • A history working with brands and leading marketing creative teams to create successful, culturally relevant content
  • Deep knowledge and interest in digital media, social media, content & technology.
  • Hands on experience is top-tier design and art direction
  • Player and coach mentality - ability to set the creative vision but also execute against it. Strong leadership and team management skills to inspire, mentor, and guide the creative team effectively
