Job Description:

Reporting to the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, this position will be responsible for internal and external communications online, in print, in person and in the media in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics ( NSM ). The individual performs a variety of tasks with a high degree of creativity and latitude focused on a writing for various audiences and ensuring appropriate tone across multiple platforms. This includes developing and writing marketing communications materials, including but not limited to: brochures, advertising, email campaigns and digital communications, working closely with NSM’s departments, centers and programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, communication, English or marketing. Five to seven years experience within the field of communications/journalism. An equivalence of education and/or experience is acceptable.

Preferred Education and Experience:

Prefer 8 – 10 years of experience in branding, communications, marketing, advertising, management, donor stewardship or related work.; Only 5-7 years required.

Some project management is a plus.

Copy-writing experience.

Writing in a style and tone suited to target audiences, messaging, proofreading and excellent command of grammar.

Worked previously in a higher education environment and/or experience in an agency directly writing for higher education clients or the 15-25 year-old demographic.
