Job Description:

In collaboration with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, the Manager of Communications and Stewardship will help develop internal and public-facing messaging to communicate the mission, vision and values of the Kansas Health Science University (KHSU) and the Kansas College of Osteopathic Medicine (KansasCOM) specifically to build awareness and support.

Principle Duties:

Communications/StewardshipCollaborate with existing staff to coordinate streamlined communication protocol and oversight for audiences/constituent groups such as local physicians, alumni, donors, and community partners.Provide service to all departments - keeping pulse on all activities to provide effective internal and external communications for topics unrelated to enrollment.Assist in the creation of content for regular publications to communicate with various audiences by gathering, writing, and designing important news stories for both internal staff and external audiences.Provide strategy, write, edit and review internal and external communication messages by select leadership for accuracy and appropriateness.Design and create presentations, flyers, and other requested materials for use by the Office of the President and Institutional Advancement, as needed.In collaboration with the Vice President of Institutional Advancement, select agencies, local printers, and other vendors as required. Maintain and manage the relationship and work of vendors.Develop, implement, and evaluate a multi-channel partner stewardship strategy.Assist in complex planning and coordination of special events and projects.Public Relations

Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive public relations strategy to enhance awareness of KHSU-KansasCOM within the communities of influence: nonprofit partners, clinical hospital partners, healthcare leaders, cities across Kansas, nationally in key regions/areas of focus, donors, elected officials, city/community leaders, and employees.Create opportunities for exposure of KHSU's leadership, faculty, and college of osteopathic medicine and its impact on Kansas communities.Oversee the generation, production, and distribution of campaign videos and audio podcasts to create awareness for KHSU-KansasCOM.Serve as institutional photographer and build/organize photo archive for use by TCS Education System Marketing Team.Monitor external news and developments on issues of interest with an eye toward opportunities for promotion of KHSU-KansasCOM.Oversee and build public relations database (Constant Contact) for newsletter and other contact efforts.Additional duties may arise and be assigned.Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communications are essential.Must possess strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with diverse internal and external constituents.Remains flexible and agile during periods of growth and change.Can effectively communicate/present in small and large settings.Ability to remain curious, ask questions, and understand programs under development.Articulates, compellingly, the mission and vision of the organization/programs.Ability to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues.Position Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in business, communication, marketing, or public relations.Experience in marketing communications; experience in nonprofit, higher education and/or healthcare a plus.Advanced experience and understanding of content creation and distribution via social media for public relations.Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, email marketing programs (Constant Contact) and presentation creation programs (Power Point, Prezi).
