The Communications Manager is responsible for executing Constant Contact's external thought leadership initiatives to help elevate our brand reputation, promote our products and services and position the company as a valued resource for key media members, customers and other external stakeholders. This role reports to the Manager, North America External Communications.
As a member of the Communications team, the Communications Manager will partner closely with our agency team, as well as executive leaders and cross-functional teams, to identify high-value opportunities and consistently drive impactful media coverage that aligns with the company's strategic objectives. In addition to traditional thought leadership activity (press releases, award submissions, etc), this role will also be actively involved in supporting the company's research initiatives and leveraging data to tell more engaging stories.
Proactive and resourceful, the Communications Manager is action-oriented and possesses excellent verbal and written skills, paired with creativity, organization, and proven media relations results. The ideal candidate has experience managing PR programs for B2B brands, and can work autonomously while juggling multiple projects and resolving challenges quickly.
What you'll do:

  • Execute an external thought leadership strategy that enhances Constant Contact's brand and elevates our spokespeople through consistent media relations activity
  • Constantly monitor trending news topics and mine company resources to come up with fresh ideas that can inform PR outreach
  • Own content development for press releases, bylines, executive briefings, media alerts, award submissions, speaking submissions, etc
  • Act as day-to-day lead for our PR agency to provide guidance on strategic priorities and ensure work aligns to the external thought leadership strategy
  • Maintain company press room and manage inbound media requests
  • Support PR-related research initiatives, as needed, with the goal of leveraging data to elevate Constant Contact's thought leadership in all things related to small business and marketing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop content and messaging for product launches, customer success stories, events, and other initiatives
  • Partner with the Manager, North America External Communications to report program performance to executive leadership team, when appropriate

Who you are:

  • 5+ years PR experience with 2+ years leading or managing media relations and/or thought leadership programs for B2B brands in either client-side or agency roles
  • Demonstrable media relations results, relationship-building skills and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Previous experience with small business or nonprofit audience is a plus
  • Highly collaborative, strategic, proactive and data-driven
  • Self-motivated professional who can operate autonomously while juggling multiple projects and resolving challenges quickly.
  • Creative, curious, and eager to bring fresh ideas to help take an established brand to new heights
  • Team player with the willingness and ability to work collaboratively with peers and cross-functional stakeholders

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education and work location. In addition, some roles may be eligible for additional on target commission pay or bonus. The compensation package includes health and welfare benefits including paid leave.
