What is the Job about?

The Director of Brand & Marketing Communications is responsible for managing a high-performing team responsible for all strategic and tactical customer and dealer facing communications and activities such as exhibits & events, sales support and collateral material, online and digital marketing, public websites, social media, public relations, product launch support etc. The role is also responsible for all brand related tasks, such as corporate identity, brand development, merchandise, sponsorships etc.

Core Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, execute and follow up of dealer- and customer communications and related activities for US & Canada to secure that VTNA’s strategic objectives as well as annual business plan targets will be achieved from a performance, activity & budget perspective.

• Drive, direct, lead, coordinate and coach the Brand & Marketing Communications Team and its individual managers in all their duties: exhibitions/trade shows, industry-, dealer- and customer events, advertising, sales promotions, online/digital marketing, content marketing, collateral materials, point of sales materials, dealer- and customer communications, social media, incentive and loyalty programs, photos, films, product launch support, public relations, brand and corporate identity activities, merchandise, sponsorships etc.

• Secure that all communications and activities are supporting VTNA’s overall long-term strategy as well as VTNA’s commercial strategy & objectives, and secure they are in line with Volvo Trucks Global Brand Platform and its values.

• Accountable for developing, managing and following up the consolidated Brand & Marketing Communications budget.

• Work together with other entities within the Strategy, Marketing & Brand Management department.

• Work closely together with VTNA’s Commercial Operations department as well as with VTNA’s field sales organization, sales channels and the different US Regions and Canada.

• Work closely together with the North American shared functions for Uptime & Customer Support, Parts & Service, and Competence Development etc.

• Develop and cultivate relationships with dealers, key suppliers, business partners, and other entities within the Volvo Group’s North American operations such as GTT, GTO and VFS as well as with Volvo Trucks’ Global function for Brand & Communications and other Volvo Group entities.

• Benchmark other Marketing Communications entities within the Volvo Group as well other industries and companies.

• Perform all other duties as assigned.

We’re looking for the following experience

• At least seven years professional and “hands on” experience in marketing / communications in a fast-paced commercial environment with demonstrated success.

• Three or more years of this experience should be at a leadership level with supervisory, budget, and project management responsibilities.

• Previous trucking, automotive or related transportation industry experience is strongly preferred.

• International experience from a global B2B business is preferred.

• Experience from other parts within the Volvo Group is preferred.

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing / communications or equivalent experience required. MBA preferred.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Teams).

Other Requirements

• Occasional domestic and international (Canada and Sweden) travels required.

• Willing to adjust work hours based on project workloads.
