Port San Antonio is the public entity redeveloping and revitalizing a 1,900-acre innovation campus just southwest of the city’s downtown into a regional, national and global destination for advanced technologies. POSITION SUMMARY

The communications manager will play an important role in developing content and executing distribution strategies, events and other activations that engage our many different audiences. Combined, these efforts will tell the story of the organization, our customers and a growing array of industry and educational partners.

Energy, creativity and ability to undertake multiple near- and long-term projects concurrently are essential parts of the communication manager’s role. This includes the ability to quickly adapt as a valued member of our close-knit, fast-paced, creative and collaborative team.

The communications manager will support or otherwise lead numerous projects, including media and community relations, events and other external engagements and will be an important and valued contributor to the success of our public service mission.

WORKING CONDITIONS

General office environment as well as meetings and engagements on the Port campus and within the region; some overnight travel could be required. Use of computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and photo/video equipment—all furnished by employer. Manual dexterity, ability to lift 20 pounds. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business related events.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop news releases, feature stories and other content for web, print and other platforms. Exceptional writing and editing skills are essential, as is a track record of working on multiple assignments on deadline. (Note: Writing samples will be requested of candidates selected for interviews.)Help develop and support the Port’s content and events calendar, including performing related tasks in coordination with colleagues, vendors, customers and external partners.Support social media content and related strategic engagements.Other projects and analysis as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations or related fields.

Experience: 5-10 years of related experience in writing, content development, public relations/communications, journalism or related fields.

License & Certification: Must have valid Texas driver license.

Testing: Must pass criminal background check.

MS Office Programs and other necessary programs
