This is a great job for you if you are a passionate storyteller who leverages social media and community engagement!Summary of PositionThe Manager, Communications & Engagement plays a critical role in helping DASH deepen relationships

with current donors and volunteers and build new donor and volunteer audiences through strategic

communications, branded content, and storytelling. This position is responsible for creating and

implementing a communications strategy, managing DASH’s messaging, developing new content, and

leveraging events and volunteer opportunities to engage donors, volunteers, and other partners. In

addition, the position is responsible for producing impactful content by designing and writing various

communications for the organization, including online appeals, newsletters, social media posts, print

materials, and videos.Key Responsibilities and DutiesCommunication (25%)• Designs and executes a comprehensive communications strategy to enhance visibility of the

organization and grow meaningful relationships to increase community support.• Develops and implements communications campaigns and strategies and monitors their success.

Defines key performance indicators for each communications channel and maintains and updates the communications strategy for each channel.• Utilizes data to track progress, recommend benchmarks, and set projections with the Development

& Communications team.• Assesses progress toward goals, including identifying what is driving and impeding progress, and

developing solutions to address gaps and adjust course, as necessary.• Prepares and maintains an annual communications calendar in line with DASH’s communications

strategy.• Collaborates cross-departmentally with leadership and other staff to ensure alignment and clarity

on communication goals, strategy, and messaging.• Works in partnership with the Programs team to identify opportunities to share stories and elevate

the voices of staff members and survivors.Digital and Social Media (25%)• Designs and implements digital media marketing campaigns to build audiences, increase

engagement, generate donations, and attract sponsors.• Creates, posts, and manages all content for various communication channels (social media, website,

email appeals) to meet overall strategic communication goals.• Develops new content from various perspectives and roles within the organization and amplifies

DASH’s partnerships and overall organizational impact in partnership with the Executive and Senior

Leadership teams.• Maintains and monitors all social media and communication-related accounts (Instagram, Facebook,

X [Twitter], LinkedIn, and YouTube) and serves as content manager of organization’s website

(WordPress), ensuring that content is updated regularly.• Identifies and shares relevant and mission-related articles, announcements, and posts from partner

organizations or mission-related accounts across the organization as appropriate.• Manages media relations by identifying and leveraging media opportunities and preparing

responses to media requests, preparing and publishing press releases.• Creates high-quality materials, including impact reports and one-pagers for use across the

organization, and supports the preparation of materials when hosting meetings or tours with

supporters.• Drafts and delivers quarterly e-newsletters and other communications in accordance with the annual communications calendar.• Cross-collaborates with the Programs team to uplift staff and survivor voices and create content and

stories to highlight these voices in DASH’s communications.• Contributes to the collection of stories for the Development team’s various communications, annual

reports, and case statements, and manages DASH’s story bank.• Supports creation to production of DASH’s direct mail program, including copywriting and design.• Monitors relevant updates and trends for usage of social media platforms and make

recommendations in line with the communications strategy and organization’s goals.Volunteer and Partner Engagement (25%)• Supports the Development & Communications team with the growth of corporate fundraising

through identification and direct solicitation of prospects for event sponsorships, crowdfunding

campaigns, in-kind donations, and capital investments.• Creates and implements social media campaigns to boost volunteer engagement.• Monitors social media platforms for cross-promotion opportunities, identifies new audiences to

follow, and engages with social media followers in a timely manner.• Strengthens DASH’s volunteer program by connecting with new corporate groups and individuals

and maintains the current volunteer base by promoting a rewarding experience for volunteers.• Develops and maintains the volunteer database with volunteer contact information, interest, skills,

and history of activities with DASH.• Onboards new volunteers, including coordinating background checks, maintaining compliance

documentation, and providing training.• Coordinates and manages the scheduling of Cornerstone tours for individuals and groups.• Coordinates volunteer-led in-kind drives, such as back-to-school and coat drives, schedules donation

pickup and distribution, and records in-kind donations in CRM.• Coordinates data collection for and prepares monthly and annual in-kind donation reports for the

Development & Communications and Finance teams.• In agreement with leadership, attends funder and community partner meetings and represents

DASH at key partner events.• In agreement with leadership, attends meetings with and delivers presentations to community

organizations.Non-Managerial Leadership and Collaboration (25%)• Serves as the organization’s lead for communications and related activities. Demonstrates an

ongoing commitment to best practices in communications and implementation across the

organization.• Maintains effective working relationships with all employees. Demonstrates a great degree of

discretion, flexibility, and cooperation.• Collaborates closely with and works in partnership with various internal and external stakeholders,

including the Executive team, Program leadership, board members, volunteers, donors, and funders,

to identify and develop opportunities that support the communication strategy.• Supports and collaborates with other team members. Shares resources, successes, lessons learned,

and challenges, and provides guidance, mentorship, and assistance to team members to help them

excel in their roles and responsibilities.• Participates in ongoing coaching, supporting a culture of continuous learning and skill development

to promote a culture of philanthropy and provide communication guidance across the organization.

Encourages problem-solving skills and participates in team brainstorming to address challenges.• Supports identification of training needs within the team and participates in professional

development opportunities, including through DASH Academy, DASH’s in-house, signature

professional development institute for staff.• Assists in fostering a collaborative and innovative culture that encourages continuous improvement

and learning.• Models DASH’s standard of understanding, sensitivity, and responsiveness to cultural differences in

the organization’s service and employee population.• Masters, communicates, and models DASH values.Minimum Qualifications• Five or more years’ related experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment, or a combination

of professional experience and a degree. Certificate, Associate, or Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in fundraising, communications, marketing, or journalism, or related field, with relevant experience

substituting for education.• Proven success designing and executing marketing and communications strategies and campaigns,

with experience managing cause-based or nonprofit communications and creating content for social

media campaigns and fundraising appeals (Canva, Adobe, Constant Contact, CRM).• Expertise in social media (Instagram, Facebook, X [Twitter], LinkedIn, and YouTube), and a

willingness to learn new applications and implement new content based on best practices.• Data-driven and experience tracking analytics to monitor and adjust performance and recommend

or make course corrections.• Demonstrated ability to present complex information in a clear, compelling, and concise manner.

Exceptional interpersonal skills to elicit commitment to and advancement of DASH's mission and

vision internally and externally and respond diplomatically to challenging issues.• Strong project management, analytical, and organizational skills with ability to analyze data, identify

trends, prepare reports, and make data-driven recommendations and decisions.• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven ability to work as part of a team and

independently, organize and prioritize tasks effectively, and manage multiple projects

simultaneously with accuracy and efficiency.• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, ethics, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. Strong ability to

compassion, and respect.• Proven capacity to respond sensitively and thoughtfully to individuals from diverse cultural, ethnic,

and social backgrounds, encompassing a range of values, attitudes, and languages.• Experience or understanding of trauma’s dynamics, trauma-informed frameworks, and trauma

issues in gender-based and power-based violence fields, including domestic violence, sexual

Browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer)• Video Editing Systems (iMovie, ClipChamp etc.)Other Requirements• Occasional travel may be required as part of the job responsibilities. This includes travel to all DASH

offices and other Washington, DC locations during business hours.• Occasional work in the evenings and on weekends may be required to attend or manage fundraising

events and opportunities.• Successful candidates must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.• As part of our standard hiring process, we will conduct a background investigation and may require
