Develops and delivers cohesive programs to enhance the university’s image and public relations, while promoting and maintaining clear and consistent connections between Public Broadcasting and CMU. Leads efforts to develop partnerships both on campus and across the coverage area. Works to ensure the financial stability of the organization through on-going fundraising efforts and necessary cost control. Provides leadership and vision to the department as it moves beyond traditional broadcast into multi-platform media distribution.Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in business, broadcasting, or a related field.Six years of management experience, including leadership in broadcasting or a related field.Experience participating with senior management in strategic decision-making.Demonstrated success in leading fundraising efforts and securing external funding.Demonstrated ability to interface and work cooperatively with external units and organizations.Demonstrated ability to manage, lead, and supervise other professionals.Demonstrated commitment to diversity.Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree, preferably in business, broadcasting, or a related field.Experience working in a unionized environment.Experience with a joint licensee of both television and radio.Experience working in a university setting.Experience with digital television conversion.Experience in securing external grants.Experience developing partnerships with external organizations, specifically in higher education.Demonstrated ability to incorporate and implement change in an organization to improve performance and results.Duties & Responsibilities

Plans and leads the complex activities of a joint licensee public broadcasting unit.Provides strategic direction for long-term financial stability to a unit that relies on non-university funds for 80% of the operating budget.Develops and delivers cohesive programs to enhance the university’s image and public relations, while promoting and maintaining clear and consistent connections between Public Broadcasting and CMU.Leads efforts to develop partnerships with other university units and external organizations, including rural schools, particularly as it relates to connecting and converting content to digital media.Participates in university-wide decision making as a member of the President’s Senior Leadership team.Provides strategic leadership in responding to various external changes and influences, including those promulgated by the FCC, other federal agencies, and statewide initiatives.Leads all unit activities including programming, fundraising, outreach, engineering, and business operations.Leads efforts at securing external grant funds to support activities, as well as major gifts.Provides leadership in expanding opportunities for public broadcasting beyond traditional areas to broaden funding base and external support.Oversees policy planning and implementation.Provides oversight of budgetary planning and expenditures.Manages the direction, development, and leadership of staff.Ensures compliance with government and licensee regulations.Performs other duties as assigned.Employee Group Employee Group: Professional & Administrative - SalaryPay Range Pay Range: $140,000 - $160,000 per yearDivision Division: Government and External RelationsDepartment Department: Public BroadcastingPosition Status Position Status: RegularEmployment Status Employment Status: Full-TimeFTE FTE: 1.0Position Type Position Type: 12 monthWeekly Work Schedule Weekly Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. / weekends and evenings as neededLocation Location: Mount Pleasant, MIAbout the Department About CMU: Central Michigan University has a more than 125-year legacy of preparing students to become leaders and changemakers in their communities and in their personal and professional lives.
