Role and Responsibilities

As the

Jenni Kayne Temporary Technical Designer , your primary responsibilities include the following:

Technical DesignOversee and own all aspects of technical design for all apparel categories from initial development to final production (T.O.P) to ensure accurate execution of requested measurements, quality, construction and overall fitMeasure garments accurately to identify any fit issues and execute fit comments efficiently to remain on schedule with calendar deadlinesMust also be able assess garments to determine compliance of spec, construction, and any prior changesLead fit sessions on live models and fit forms, provide recommendations, note call-outs, and log critiques to accurately and efficiently address all issuesProvide grading guidelines to vendors after fit approval to ensure fit continuity and sizing consistencyCreate and develop clear and detailed fit comment document with easily understandable comments using written and visual methods and be able to communicate fit and balance issues via photos, detailed sketches and pattern diagram or directly on pattern when neededCommunicate daily with vendors regarding fit, construction, sewing changes and any general questions as well as final grading throughout entire product lifecycleMust have ability to assemble tech packs with detailed sketches/illustrations, garment construction details and specs on Adobe Illustrator and Excel while adhering to set established standards, templates and organizationIdentify potential product, quality and costing issues and make appropriate recommendations to maintain brand integrityTrack and manage workflow and workload including managing fit schedule and calendarWork with PD Manager to assess next steps when fit issues arise during the pre-production/production process and any potential impacts to timingMaintain sample organization throughout development and production lifecycle including tracking status of fit samples/packagesProduct Development/Production

Work closely with PD and Design to keep BOM updated throughout entire development and production life cycleWork closely with PD on sampling needs and requests to meet calendar milestones and due datesReview and approve final inspection spec sheets before bulk shippingMust update cross functional WIPs within timely manner to maintain accurate record keeping while maintaining established standards, templates and aestheticsQUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

6+ years minimum of Technical Design experience, preferably specifically in RTWMinimum 2 years AA degree required from related fieldStrong knowledge of prototyping, development/production practices & processes as well as apparel construction and fitHands on experience with trouble shooting production, pattern and grading issuesMust have strong mastery and command of Excel and Adobe IllustratorMust be proficient in Microsoft OfficeIntermediate experience for grading skills, knowledge of bill of materials, trimsExcellent communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation with the ability to write comprehensive product specs and produce detailed technical drawingsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills to make decisions independently and proactivelyThe ability to organize & prioritize workload to meet deadlines is essential while being flexible and adaptive to changing prioritiesProactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and prioritize workloadTeam player, collaborative, results driven and respectfulQuick learner with excellent attention to detailAbility to sew is a plus but not necessary
