The Lead Designer, Mechanical participates in a team environment consisting of engineers and designers to produce construction documents for the following systems: HVAC wet/dry, plumbing, controls and the like.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

Develops mechanical/HVAC/Plumbing construction documents using architectural background layouts and system performance requirements defined by the project team including the architect, engineer and project managerCoordinates with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering/ internal and external)Participates in pre-design project activities, such as site assessment, site plan review, and verification of as built conditionsWorks with project team to find optimum system sizing, routing, materials, and space management for ductwork and piping systemsPerforms equipment selection research and develop recommendationsParticipates in Services during Construction, including responding to RFIs, shop drawing and submittal review, site observation, preparation of field-issued sketches, participation in construction meetings, and preparation of preliminary and final punch lists, and as-built drawingsExecutes work within approved budgets, develop progress reports, and interface with clients and othersDevelops projects in compliance with engineering codes, standards, principles, relevant specifications and contractual requirementsProduces construction documents and calculations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer and coordinate with other disciplinesParticipates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverablesSupports business development activities, including preparation of materials for qualifications, proposals, and interviewsMentors interns and junior members of project teamsDevelopments of construction drawings, specifications, details, schedules and diagrams for HVAC, process mechanical and plumbing systemsPerforms technical tasks using applicable standards, procedures and codesPerforms quality control reviews of work developed by othersProvides technical expertise for studies and design effortsOther duties as assignedThe information contained in this job description is intended to describe the essential job functions required of those assigned to this job.
