WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for an outstanding Lead Designer, Footwear Material Design to combine their experience, problem solving abilities, and creativity to help build the future of Jordan Brand Materials in Sport!

The ideal candidate needs to be a highly creative problem solver with an exceptionally tuned eye for aesthetic, craft, details; someone who doesn’t settle for anything less than the best design and materials solutions, to meet the needs of the consumer/athlete.

This person will be focused on elevating the consumer/athlete experience by crafting materials that perform, are trend-relevant and consumer right to help push the future of Jordan Sport for a range of products, driving an emotional connection through narratives and storytelling, as well as pushing the edges of sustainable footwear material design.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

You will be crafting design concepts and new material designs on a range of products for Jordan Sport footwear. You will work on elevating and bringing new methods, materials and technologies that influence new models, carry-over models and seasonal narratives that focus on the future of Jordan Sport Footwear.

Your goal will be to strive for product excellence by partnering with key stakeholders cross-functionally on the product creation process and help bring the vision for the future of Jordan Sport Footwear products to life.

Your work encompasses concepting and ideating through to finalizing material tech packs, as well as working with manufacturing partners, and at times communicating directly with athletes; the daily responsibilities of this role are multifaceted, challenging, and rewarding.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

As a Lead Designer, Footwear Materials Design in Sport, you will be working together with a large project team of different professionals (engineers, researchers, scientists, marketing, product testing, sustainability, materials development, costing, etc.), collaborate within the design community (industrial designers, materials, color, graphics, computational, etc).

**You must submit a portfolio in order to be considered for this role.

WHAT YOU BRING

Bachelor's degree or higher in design; textile, fashion, industrial, furniture, interior, architecture, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

At least 5-7 years industry experience designing footwear and/or other products that demonstrate your ability to push design thinking and material exploration and ideas

Love of sport, curiosity for athlete insight and connection to sport style trends

Ability to translate insights into authentic narratives and visual storytelling.

Ability to create concepts and explore new Materials innovations and technologies and ideas

Experience building inspiration/concept presentations, and mood boards for seasonal concepts and direction

Experience building ideas virtually and/or crafting by hand

Communicate and present design concepts to internal and external audiences.

Highly organized and self-sufficient

Experience working and communicating directly with manufacturing partners to ensure the accuracy of intent and Materials executions

Ability to adapt to change and handle multiple, competing priorities.

Ability to build and edit files using Adobe programs including Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign

Ability in participating in multiple seasonal projects with challenging resources and deadlines
