Job Description:

The Wayfinding Design Manager reports to the Wayfinding Sr. Project Manager and is responsible for the design delivery of all Wayfinding designs performed by various designers under different contracts. The characteristics of the candidate must include wayfinding design experience within large campus environments (aviation, transportation, higher education campuses, etc.). The individual shall be driven to "think outside the box" and be able to lead and collaborate with large groups to find the right solution.

Position Description:

The Wayfinding Design Manager establishes and monitors procedures for engineering review activities to ensure they are done according to best practices and the design standards identified in the Contracts. The Wayfinding Design Manager shall oversee design support management, scope of work management (contracts, cost and schedule), design review and approval, permitting, agency coordination support, and building information modelling (BIM) coordination. The Wayfinding Design Manager supports Wayfinding project managers in providing oversight of the design-builder's designs including architectural, structural, mechanical electrical plumbing (MEP), civil, utilities, and IT disciplines per LAWA standards. The Wayfinding Design Manager oversees the various design activities of the Wayfinding Enhancement Program, which includes stakeholder communications and presentations to senior leadership of the airport and airlines.The Wayfinding Enhancement Program covers all areas from landside (parking and roads) to terminal/concourse/secured side (all passenger facing) to airfield (gating identification) and all supporting IT interfaces.

Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications

20 years or more experience in managing the design of large, complex building projects, utilities and infrastructure improvements, preferably on airport projectsDesign management of complex aviation improvements experience requiredExperience managing a team of design professionalsExperience with projects more than $50 million in value.Experience with various delivery methods, including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR and Design/BuildProven ability to perform in a management capacityExcellent written and oral communication skills and a thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulationsMust have a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilitiesMust be able to interface with a variety of people with different technical levels and educational backgroundsMust be detail oriented and highly organizedEducation/Training

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, and/or related field requiredProfessionally licensed Architect and/or Engineer strongly preferred
