Position Summary

The primary purpose of the Graphic Designer is to coordinate and develop a variety of communication materials on behalf of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Projects will include developing fliers, informational packets, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, and additional formats as needed. The graphic designer's work will be conducted iteratively and in consultation with a member of the LCCC Administrative Team in order to tailor aesthetically pleasing materials suitable to the intended content.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

* Understands and uses communication, design, and visual art concepts and practices pertinent to the area of responsibility.

* Ability to independently design and edit materials of moderate complexity to targeted audiences.

* Ability to understand the mission, objectives, and goals of a cancer research center with multiple service delivery functions.

* Thorough knowledge of methods and techniques of producing content for both digital and hard-copy formats, particularly with professional design software within the Adobe Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator.

* Expertise with SharePoint and Microsoft Office products, including PowerPoint and Word.

* Excellent communication skills with special attention to providing exceptional customer service to Center faculty, staff, postdocs, and students.

* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in time-sensitive manner with minimal oversight.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

* Ability to conceptualize and create communications as they relate to the area of responsibility from creation through delivery.

* Ability to assess the potential impact of internal/external communications efforts and make necessary adjustments.

* Thorough knowledge of the techniques for disseminating information to the public and target groups.

* Experience in healthcare or academia communications is preferred.
