Albright College, a dynamic liberal arts college in Reading, PA, invites applications for a full-time Artist in Residence position who will serve as the Director of Choral Activities beginning in August 2024. Qualified applicants must have completed a Bachelor's degree, offer evidence of quality teaching at the undergraduate level, successful experience in choral activities (conducting, coaching, arranging, recruiting, etc.), and strong keyboard skills. Applicants should have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduate students in an interdisciplinary liberal arts environment. Teaching load is six undergraduate courses per year. Specific teaching assignments depend on the candidate's areas of expertise as well as departmental need. A typical semester would include the directorship of three auditioned choirs - our Concert Choir (SATB) and two a cappella ensembles (SSAA and TTBB) - and one additional assignment, such as: teaching in either our Music Industry Studies or General Education curriculum, or other contributions to our applied popular music program. The position also carries an expectation of departmental and college committee service, academic advising and mentoring, the continued pursuit of professional scholarship, the creative participation in our annual performing arts season, and the possibility of private studio instruction.
