RADIO-TELEVISION SERVICES (BL-RTVS-IUBLA)

IU Radio/TV is home to Indiana Public Media, the south-central Indiana region's trusted source of locally produced news, arts, and culture series from WFIU Public Radio, WTIU Public Television, and nationally distributed programming from NPR and PBS.
WFIU's daily radio, podcast, and web series A Moment of Science (AMOS) is a nationally-syndicated 2-minute public radio program that seeks to remove some of the mystery of science, but not the wonder. The series provides the scientific story behind some of life's most perplexing mysteries. It's a show for anyone who's noticed the quirkier parts of our world and wondered, "Why is that?"
A Moment of Science content is available on public radio, web video, podcast, social media, and via its companion website. The series celebrated its 35th Anniversary in 2023!
Job Summary
This Associate Producer position (AP) is a part-time employee position within the Radio and Television Services Content Group, assisting with the production of WFIU's radio, podcast, and web series "A Moment of Science" (AMOS).
Department-Specific ResponsibilitiesServes as content owner/coordinator of the AMOS website.Creates daily AMOS blog and podcast posts, utilizing existing scripts from the AMOS WFIU public radio program.Executes AMOS website posts to incorporate copy, additional formatting, still photography, graphic elements, multi-media, and other elements.Edits AMOS website blog posts from AMOS bloggers and interns.Crafts and shares social media posts relating to new show episodes (Facebook, Instagram).Pitches and creates new, custom digital content for other platforms, including YouTube and TikTok.Works with the AMOS production team to help create and maintain a production schedule for the program.Works with the AMOS production team to help envision a multimedia future for the program.Utilizes in-house software platforms (CMS: Wordpress and Cascade, and various Adobe Creative Cloud programs, including Photoshop, Premiere, and Audition) to execute aboveResponsible for circulating and marketing their finished content via applicable WFIU/WTIU web and social outlets.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
RequiredHigh school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred1 year of professional exposure in broadcast, media production, social media, or online publication.Experience with photo editing, non-linear video editing, and audio editing software (i.e. Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition).SKILLS
RequiredStrong journalism and story-telling ability.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Familiarity with photo editing, video production, and audio production software.Ability to keep and manage a production schedule.Ability to work both independently and closely with other content creators within a strict deadline driven production atmosphere.PreferredPossess an interest in science, or a deep curiosity about the world around us.Demonstrates deep understanding of journalism ethics and guidelines.Strong editorial judgment of what works on the web and other platforms.Ability to provide training and instruction to other staff, temp employees, and student interns.Basic understanding of copyright and media law.Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of public media.

The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation. Must be able to work at computer and sit for long periods of time.

$14.00 per hour to start, with the opportunity to progress in pay twice per year (opportunities going into fiscal year start in July and mid-year in January).
Pay progression plans for this part-time position is currently:
Level 1: $14 per hour
Level 2: $16 per hour
Level 3: $18 per hour
The candidate may be brought in a higher level, depending on qualifications.
Work Hours
25 hours per week.
Part-time employees at Indiana University may not work over 29 hours per week across all University-held positions.
May be required to work occasional nights or weekends, depending on the project info/elements delivery, and deadline.
