As a member of the content delivery team, you will work closely with City departments to improve content and service delivery for San Franciscans. You will partner with City departments to move their services and information onto SF.gov, while helping upskill editors across the City.You will work closely with the product content team, who develop the SF.gov website with product and design teams. You will also contribute to the community of content professionals across the City, sharing your knowledge with City employees who work in content.ResponsibilitiesAs a Content Designer, we expect you to be a great writer, with experience on websites or products. We’re committed to designing usable content in several languages, not just English. The Content Designer should be able to read and write Chinese (Traditional) fluently, to help us work with our translation vendor.You will work with and guide City departments moving their websites to SF.gov, building user-centered content to meet user needs and business goals. You’ll help departments work out how to measure success on their website or digital service.You’ll run trainings and support for our SF.gov editors and stakeholders and pave the way for others by taking part in the content community and working on content standards for the City. You’ll also contribute to a strong content team at Digital Services as part of content critiques and shareouts.Work Location:Incumbent will conduct the majority of work at San Francisco Digital Services (1 S Van Ness, Ave San Francisco, CA 94103). Employees may be permitted to work a hybrid schedule with supervisor approval, after which they must work at least one day in the office every week.Qualifications An associate degree in business administration, public administration, information systems, economics, finance, computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college or university OR its equivalent in terms of total course credits/units ANDTwo (2) years' experience in content strategy, content design, copywriting, editing or UX writing.Additional experience as described above may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two (2) years). One (1) year is equivalent to thirty (30) semester units / forty-five (45) quarter units with a minimum of 10 semester / 15 quarter units in one of the fields above or a closely related field.Desired skills and characteristicsAble to read and write Chinese (Traditional) fluently,Experience designing complex content to meet user needsExperience managing website migrationsUser research champion, able to help with and synthesize researchUnderstand how content is consumed by screen readers and other assistive technologyWrite and validate user needs and user storiesTell the difference between user needs and the desires of the userUnderstand how government processes workMeasure and evaluate outcomes in content and servicesComfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environmentAdditional Information
