While professional experience and qualifications are key for this role, make sure to check you have the preferable soft skills before applying if required.The Director, Global Product Communications, will lead external communications activities for the company’s Global Bone Metabolism and Rare Endocrinology portfolio, working to increase awareness and understanding of our medicines and mission to improve the lives of people living with rare diseases. A global role reporting to the Senior Director of Pipeline and Portfolio Communications, this position will partner closely with senior cross-functional leaders, providing strategic counsel, support and execution of brand communications, driving positive business impact and improved awareness about our medicines. This individual will be someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, a strong healthcare background, firm understanding of global markets and experience translating scientific and technical information for diverse audiences.You will be responsible for:Lead the development/implementation of innovative communications strategies and activities for Alexion’s Bone Metabolism and Rare Endocrinology portfolio supportive of brand business objectivesDevelop press releases, key message documents, Q&As, standby statements for key brand milestones (congresses, publications, regulatory) and manage the necessary internal reviews and approvals of materialsServe as integral member of cross-functional Bone Metabolism and Rare Endocrinology Leadership teams, providing communications counsel and partnership, with an emphasis on disease awareness, launch preparedness and post-market engagement initiativesManage multiple, critical communications projects simultaneously and independentlyIn partnership with Advocacy, build stakeholder trust through proactive outreach efforts with patient communitiesIdentify opportunities to leverage Alexion’s patient ambassador strategy to support public affairs programming and media relations activitiesIn partnership with Corporate and Digital teams, develop creative and compelling content to communicate the value of our medicines to external audiencesDrive employee awareness and understanding about Alexion’s portfolio through meaningful organizational communications that engage, educate and inspireProvide brand subject matter expertise and support to Corporate Communications and Corporate Affairs colleaguesSupervise agency partners to drive tactical execution of communications strategies, managing associated budgets and ensuring that communications goals are achievedYou will need to have:8-10 years of experience in PR, Communications in biotech/pharmaceuticals or with a healthcare public relations agencyDeep understanding of regulatory, commercial and legal landscape governing pre-approval and post-approval pharmaceutical product communications, in the U.S. and globallyGlobal or U.S. Launch experienceStrong executive presence and outstanding interpersonal skills; ability to successfully influence without authority and effectively work across functions and personalitiesExcellent business judgment when making decisions; always considers the relevance/impact of each decision on the businessExperience managing projects within a highly matrixed Global environmentAbility to work well under pressure, successfully navigate ambiguity and succeed in a rapidly changing, fast-paced, often unpredictable environment with multiple competing prioritiesOutstanding attention to detail, follow through and high sense of urgencyTrack record for adding value, execution excellence and driving resultsExcellent verbal and written communications skillsWe would prefer for you to have:Rare disease/high-value biologics experience is important, but not essentialHigh learning agilityWhen we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines.
