Job DescriptionOur client is a leading energy and utility company committed to delivering clean energy solutions. Established in 1800's, they currently serve over 3 million customers across almost 30 states. With headquarters in Orange, Connecticut, they have a strong presence with offices in Rochester (NY), Binghamton (NY), Boston, Berkshire (Mass), and Portland, Maine. Employing approximately 6k+ people, they boast a robust team of nearly 50 software developers and 4 designers, with plans to expand the design team further. The company excels in smart energy solutions, managing software for payment flows, outage management, and energy efficiency initiatives, including EV charging and heat pump systems.
They need a Principal UX Designer who will play a critical role in driving decision-making, running workshops, and guiding various design projects. The successful candidate will enhance the company's design systems and improve accessibility features. This role demands proficiency in Figma, extensive experience with design systems, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on design work. The design team includes a content design manager, a UX developer/designer, and a recently onboarded entry-level designer who just converted from an internship.
They're really looking for a jack of all trades here. With 7+ subsidiary companies focused on energy solutions, each with distinct stakeholders, the role involves revamping websites, optimizing payment flows, and enhancing the design system. The work environment encourages in-office collaboration for 3 to 5 days a week, with possible flexibility for remote at the hiring manager's discretion.Key Requirements:
Experience with design systems, including revamping or building from scratchExpertise in payment flows and data visualizationProficiency in FigmaStrong advocacy for accessibilityAbility to lead workshops and facilitate decision-making with stakeholdersVersatility in design and user research skillsA team player with a blend of agency and corporate experienceAdaptability to work across various design and development environmentsResponsibilities:
Lead and execute product design activities within agile development teamsProduce deliverables including requirements visualization, user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and visual designsCollaborate with digital business stakeholders to define experience strategiesBreak down features into user stories and ensure detailed design prior to story acceptanceProvide feedback to ensure innovative and consistent design solutionsWork with UX researchers to test and optimize digital experiencesPresent work to stakeholders and leadership teamsPartner with vendors and design agencies when internal resources are limitedEnsure all design work aligns with the design system and is implemented consistentlyAdvocate for customer needs throughout the design processFacilitate design-centered workshops and visioning exercises with cross-functional stakeholders
Salary and Benefits:
The base salary for this position ranges from
$110,000 to $150,000 , depending on experience.
