The Role
Netflix Games Studio is looking for a talented and highly-motivated Technical Sound Designer to help bring a brand-new AAA multi-platform game to fruition. Work closely with audio lead and game team to conceptualize, prototype, build, and maintain effective audio systems that support the experiential and narrative pillars of our game
Problem-solve and devise creative solutions to complex challenges that can arise within interactive audio
Edit and implement a wide range of high-quality sound assets
Collaborate with external outsourcers while maintaining excellent standards of communication
Perform audio playtests, performance profiling, bug-fixing and optimization
Contribute as a key stakeholder in designing and managing sound prioritization systems
Our ideal candidate possesses:
5+ years experience as a Technical Sound Designer, preferably on high-quality multi-platform games
Expertise with Unreal Engine (including Blueprint), Wwise, and other industry-standard audio technologies
Strong abilities with game audio concepts, workflows, and technical sound design best practices
Experience creating and optimizing UE Blueprints
Proficiency in visual programming and scripting languages
Solid understanding of spatial audio concepts in gaming and related technologies
Experience with HDR (high dynamic range) mixing techniques
A keen focus on product quality and supporting player clarity, feedback, and experience
Proven capability in sound design and content creation
An inclusive, communicative, and collaborative mindset; we are a distributed development team
Adaptive growth mindset and a passion for solving complex problems with other people
Advanced profiling experience in middleware to identify and troubleshoot audio issues
Bonus qualifications:
Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining interactive music systems
Experience assessing and implementing in-game acoustics solutions
Experience working with outsource or contractors
Experience creating scripts for Reaper using Python or Lua
Experience coding in C++ or C#
Knowledge of 3rd party tools and add-ons used in AAA games
Engine-native approaches such as UE Metasounds
Strong portfolio/reel that demonstrates relevant experience in technical sound design in games
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $90,000-$600,000 Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
